Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: causes (fear of subjects, lack of practical training) and effects (slower innovation, economic impact, medical service quality). However, the development is somewhat superficial. For instance, the argument regarding medical services is slightly confusing, as it suggests that fewer science students leads to a reduction in the quality of medical services, which is a valid point but could be explained with more depth. The introduction is a bit repetitive, and the conclusion is quite brief. Overall, the ideas are relevant, but the extension of these points is limited, placing this in the Band 6 range.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'firstly', 'secondly', 'in addition', and 'in a nutshell', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel mechanical, and there are instances where the flow is slightly disrupted by awkward phrasing, such as 'The innovations also reducing by time'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly in the third paragraph where the connection between the lack of science students and the specific impact on medical services could be more smoothly integrated. Paragraphing is appropriate, but the overall progression of ideas could be more sophisticated.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'innovation', 'scientific development', and 'pharmacists'. However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'not select science' instead of 'not choosing science', 'does not feel pressurize' instead of 'does not feel pressured', and 'it affects in countries economy' instead of 'it affects the country's economy'. These errors do not impede communication but indicate a limited range of vocabulary for higher band scores.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('many universities do not provide... and that is a reason student have lack of understanding'), incorrect verb forms ('The innovations also reducing by time'), and missing articles or possessives ('it affects in countries economy'). Punctuation is generally functional, but the frequency of these grammatical slips prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. The writer demonstrates a basic control of grammar, but lacks the consistency required for a Band 7.
