Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the causes for the decline in science students and the effects on society. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention 'fear of science' and 'lack of practical knowledge' as causes, these points could be expanded with more specific examples or deeper analysis. Similarly, the effects on society—such as economic impact and medical service quality—are mentioned but remain somewhat superficial. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is fully extended with clear logical steps and more detailed supporting evidence.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use basic cohesive devices like 'firstly', 'secondly', and 'in a nutshell' to signal the structure. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'The innovations also reducing by time.' Some transitions feel repetitive, and the connection between ideas could be smoother. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that pronouns clearly refer back to their antecedents would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your meaning clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'innovation', 'theoretical', and 'pharmacists'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'not select science' (should be 'not choosing to study science') and 'feel pressurize' (should be 'feel pressured'). Additionally, there is some repetition of basic vocabulary. To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic collocations and synonyms to avoid repetitive phrasing and demonstrate a wider range of vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('people who has', 'student have lack'), incorrect verb forms ('if it is learning'), and missing articles or prepositions. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be noticeable. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, particularly subject-verb agreement and the correct use of passive voice, before attempting more complex structures.
