Student answer (Band 5.0)

In a fast changing world, the behaviour of the students would rapidly change. Yes, in many countries most of the students does not wants to study science in university. This will effect both negative and positive to society.

Firstly, one of the cause is that, Science is a complicated subject and not easier for everyone . It will become more technical after the college study becasue the brief fundamentals of sciene played a significant role for study in university. So students will shift the path after completing secondary education. and moves from science to humanities. this change has a positive impacts on society. like In society, social problems is very comprehensive issue . A students who have a knowledge about humaity and socialism , they will overcome this type of issues.

secondly, In many countries there is lower source of income for those students who completed secondary and higher education in science. So students will avoid to study science related subjects at university. this will leads to less graduates of science from universities. In country, it has become a negative impact on society, there will be less growth of inventors and less inventions in the country.

In conclusion, overall this will impact both positive and negative on society. like doctors and engineers played a sgnificant role in many situations, if they are not available at different situations like health issue , technical problem etc. then this will leads to crises in society. I think, students choosing whether science or other sub jects its totally depends upon whats they want to do in future.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: causes (difficulty of the subject, low income) and effects (social benefits of humanities, lack of scientific innovation). However, the development is inconsistent. The argument regarding the positive impact of humanities is somewhat underdeveloped and lacks a clear link to the prompt's focus on the decline of science students. The conclusion introduces new ideas about doctors and engineers that were not fully integrated into the body paragraphs. To reach a higher band, you should ensure each point is fully explained with clear examples and maintain a consistent focus throughout the essay.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as the repetitive use of 'So' and 'In society'. There are issues with sentence-level cohesion, particularly where ideas are joined abruptly or incorrectly, such as 'like In society, social problems is very comprehensive issue'. Paragraphing is present but the transition between ideas is sometimes disjointed. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would significantly improve the flow of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. You rely on basic terms like 'complicated', 'good', and 'bad' (implied by positive/negative). There are several word-choice errors, such as 'lower source of income' instead of 'lower earning potential' and 'socialism' when you likely meant 'social sciences' or 'humanities'. Spelling errors, such as 'sciene', 'sgnificant', and 'sub jects', are frequent enough to be noticeable. To improve, focus on learning collocations related to academic and social topics and proofread carefully for spelling.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but accuracy is a significant issue. There are frequent errors in subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'most of the students does not wants', 'this will leads') and article usage. Punctuation is also problematic, with inconsistent capitalization and unnecessary spaces within words like 'sub jects'. While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in basic grammar and punctuation impede the fluency of the text. You should focus on mastering basic sentence construction and subject-verb agreement before attempting more complex structures.
