Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt—causes and effects—but the development is inconsistent. While you identify reasons like high tuition fees and lack of local courses, the explanation of these points is somewhat superficial. For example, the link between not studying science and 'frictions in society' is unclear and lacks logical support. The conclusion introduces a new idea (government scholarships) that was not previously discussed, which is a missed opportunity to synthesize the main points. To reach a higher band, ensure that each cause and effect is fully explained with concrete examples or logical reasoning rather than just stating them.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'Resultantly' and 'Apart from this' are used, but the flow between sentences is sometimes disjointed. For instance, the transition between the causes and the effects is abrupt. Additionally, some referencing is unclear, such as 'It is that the students are facing difficulties', which lacks a clear antecedent. Improving the variety and precision of your linking words will help create a smoother progression of ideas.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. You use some repetitive phrasing, such as 'study science' and 'in universities', which appears multiple times. There are also instances of awkward word choices, such as 'furtherly' (which is not a standard word) and 'the science can declined'. To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific collocations related to education and societal development, and focus on using synonyms to avoid repetition throughout the essay.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'the science can declined'), missing articles, and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'they do not find the relevant courses which they to study further'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing around commas and periods. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading for basic sentence construction and verb tense consistency.
