Student answer (Band 5.0)
In many countries not enough people are choosing to study science at university. there some reasons of it which are given below. Now in many countries people are not choosing study science at university level because they are no more interested in studying science at university level most of the students want to run their own business in future. Because they think that that doing a business will be more beneficial for them and for running business they do not need to study science subjects at university level. They just want to be an educated person so that they can learn business. I think it is a wise decision on the part of students. I think it has positive effect on our society. In this way the competion between the students may be decreased which is a good thing also .In this way only deserving people will be able to study science subjects at university level. It is also a good decision for the students who are not interested in studying science. Its better to choose something as a carrier on which you have keen interest. For example my brother at first took admission in bachelors in Biochemistry he found this field out of his taste and interest then he decided to get admission in bachelors in English. Then after completing his bachelors he did masters in English and Politics he decided to enroll in CSS exam. luckily he passed his exam and become an officer. I think its better do your own decision on your own. You should do things in which you more interested. Because i think it is the only way to become better version of yourself

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt, identifying reasons for the decline in science students and discussing the effects on society. However, the development of ideas is limited. The argument that students prefer business is presented, but the discussion on societal effects is underdeveloped and somewhat illogical, suggesting that a decrease in competition is a positive outcome without explaining the broader implications for scientific progress or innovation. The position is clear, but the supporting arguments lack depth and academic rigour. To improve, you should provide more substantial reasons and explore the consequences of a shortage of scientists more thoroughly, such as the impact on technological advancement or healthcare.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay lacks a clear paragraph structure, as it is presented as a single block of text. This makes it difficult for the reader to follow the progression of ideas. While there are some attempts at cohesive devices, such as 'For example' and 'In this way', they are often used repetitively or incorrectly. The transition between the causes and the effects is abrupt. To improve, you must organise your response into distinct paragraphs: an introduction, body paragraphs for causes and effects, and a conclusion. Using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring each paragraph focuses on a single main idea will significantly improve the flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally basic and repetitive. Phrases like 'not enough people', 'good thing', and 'better version of yourself' are used, which lack the precision required for an academic essay. There are also issues with word choice, such as 'carrier' instead of 'career' and 'took admission' instead of 'enrolled'. While the meaning is generally clear, the range of vocabulary is limited and does not demonstrate the flexibility needed for higher bands. You should focus on learning topic-specific vocabulary related to education, career development, and societal impact to enhance your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. There are issues with sentence structure, such as run-on sentences and fragments (e.g., 'there some reasons of it which are given below'). Punctuation is inconsistent, with missing commas and incorrect capitalisation at the start of sentences. The use of articles and prepositions is also frequently inaccurate. While you attempt some complex structures, they are often faulty. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring subject-verb agreement, and proofreading for punctuation errors. Practising the use of complex sentences with correct conjunctions will also help raise your score.
