Student answer (Band 5.0)

It is widely considered that, in many countries have only few students are interested in learning science at university and they have no enough students which choose career in science. There are some causes and effects of this issue, I will discuss both the reasons and effects further.

After examination of main reason, Hard course and changing pattern and course every year in the science stream. half of the students are average into the study and they think science is very though course for their career and future that is why they don't select science as a main stream. For example, every year change in course and hard examination, students are feel depressed in science and can't take load for exam and result.

other reason is that, fear of failing in science. there are many student have fear for get failure in exam and they think they have no other way and as a result they attempt suicide. Moreover, some students have family pressure about getting good scores in exam, that is why they don't choose science as main course. there is major effect on country's development because if country have no enough students of science so i will make more tension in every field and economy.

To concluded, in my opinion government and educational institutes should encourage more students are study in science. fees of this course is very high so, government give some scholarships to the students and institute are offer some affordable fees charge so every student learn this course with more interest.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt—causes and effects—but the development is limited. While you identify reasons like 'hard courses' and 'fear of failure,' these points are not fully explored or supported with clear, logical reasoning. The effects on society are mentioned briefly, specifically regarding the economy, but the explanation is vague. To improve, you should expand on your ideas with more detailed examples and ensure the link between the causes and the resulting societal impact is explicit. The position is generally clear, but the lack of depth in the arguments prevents a higher score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'After examination of main reason' and 'To concluded.' Some sentences lack logical flow, making the progression of ideas feel disjointed. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the transition between the causes and the effects is abrupt. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words more naturally and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, unified focus that connects logically to the next.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, often relying on basic terms like 'hard,' 'good,' and 'main.' There are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'average into the study' and 'take load for exam.' These errors occasionally make the meaning difficult to grasp. To improve, you should work on learning collocations (words that naturally go together) and attempt to use more precise academic vocabulary. For example, instead of 'hard course,' use 'academically demanding curriculum.' Expanding your range of vocabulary will help you express your ideas with greater precision and clarity.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement ('students are feel depressed'), article usage, and sentence structure ('in many countries have only few students'). Complex sentence structures are attempted but are usually faulty, leading to confusion. The majority of the sentences contain errors, which limits the clarity of your arguments. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically ensuring that every sentence has a clear subject and verb, and proofread carefully to correct common errors in tense and pluralization.
