Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt (causes and effects), but the development is inconsistent. While you identify reasons like the perceived difficulty of science and the desire for easier subjects, the explanation is often repetitive or lacks depth. The effects are mentioned, such as economic impact and job opportunities, but the connection between the causes and the broader societal impact is somewhat superficial. The position is clear, but the argument would benefit from more specific, logical elaboration rather than just stating that science is 'tough' or 'brings jobs'.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the logical progression is frequently disrupted by awkward phrasing and a lack of clear cohesive devices. Transitions like 'To commence with' and 'To begin with' are used, but the internal flow within paragraphs is often disjointed. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the phrase 'this effect society in many techniques', where the connection to the previous sentence is lost. The use of linking words is mechanical rather than natural, which hinders the overall flow of ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'tough', 'hard', and 'easy', which lack the precision required for an academic essay. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'in many techniques' (instead of 'in many ways') and 'young youth' (which is redundant). While the meaning is generally conveyed, the lack of variety and the misuse of certain terms prevent a higher score. To improve, focus on learning topic-specific collocations related to education and economics.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede readability. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('most individual not showing'), missing articles ('in contemporary era'), and awkward sentence structures ('they made a compulsory in every term'). The range of structures is limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences with some errors in complex attempts. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with sentence boundaries. To reach a higher band, you need to focus on basic sentence construction, verb tenses, and ensuring that subjects and verbs agree.
