Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt—causes and effects—but the development is superficial. The causes are limited to the difficulty of the subject and a lack of interest, which are repetitive. The effects are also described in general terms, such as 'economical growth of nation is decreased,' without providing specific or well-supported examples. The ideas are presented but lack the depth required for a higher band. The position is clear, but the supporting arguments are underdeveloped and rely on generalizations rather than logical expansion or concrete evidence.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'The both causes and effect are explained' or 'Besides this.' There is a lack of variety in linking words, and the progression of ideas within paragraphs is often disjointed. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the flow between sentences is frequently interrupted by grammatical errors, making the overall logical progression feel somewhat forced rather than natural.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. The student frequently uses basic terms like 'science subject,' 'students,' and 'negative impacts' throughout the text. There are noticeable errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'the unemployment ratio is rise rapidly' and 'lack of intersect' (likely meaning interest). The range is insufficient to express complex ideas precisely, and the reliance on simple, repetitive phrasing hinders the ability to convey a sophisticated argument. The vocabulary is minimally adequate for the task but lacks the flexibility required for higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede clarity. There are persistent issues with subject-verb agreement ('the unemployment ratio is rise'), article usage ('in many nation'), and sentence structure ('there are so many university there the students can not have to learn'). Complex sentence structures are attempted but are almost always faulty, leading to confusion. Simple sentences are used, but even these contain errors. The control of grammar is weak, and the high frequency of errors makes the text difficult to read at times.
