Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While the prompt asks for causes and effects, the essay only touches upon the perceived difficulty of science subjects as a cause. It fails to address the 'effects on society' aspect of the prompt entirely. The arguments are underdeveloped, repetitive, and lack the necessary depth or relevant examples required for an academic task. The position is unclear, and the response is too brief to adequately address all parts of the task. Consequently, the response is severely limited in its ability to provide a coherent or comprehensive argument.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The essay lacks a clear logical structure. There is no introduction or conclusion, and the paragraphing is non-existent or confusingly formatted with excessive spacing. The progression of ideas is disjointed, making it difficult for the reader to follow the writer's train of thought. Cohesive devices are largely absent or misused, such as the repetitive use of 'relevant' and 'good person' to describe examples. The lack of transition words or logical connectors means that the relationship between the causes and the overall topic is not clearly established, resulting in a fragmented piece of writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary range is very limited and often inaccurate. The writer struggles with basic word forms, such as using 'fever' instead of 'fewer' and 'science subject' instead of 'science subjects'. There is a heavy reliance on simple, repetitive language like 'good person', 'difficult', and 'easy'. The misuse of words like 'relevant' to refer to people rather than points or arguments indicates a lack of control over word choice. The vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas, and the errors in word formation and collocation frequently impede the clarity of the message.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The grammatical range is extremely limited, consisting mostly of simple, error-prone sentences. There are frequent errors in subject-verb agreement ('science subject is', 'do not clear'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are incomplete or lack a clear subject and predicate, such as 'The most and major problem that do not clear the university.' The punctuation is also inconsistent, and the overall lack of control over basic grammar makes the text difficult to read. There is no evidence of complex sentence structures, and the high frequency of errors causes significant strain on the reader.
