Student answer (Band 5.5)

In several countries is is found that many students does not choose Science subject in their studies at school level.

students at their school level not intrested in studying science subject that have many reasons. First reason is science subject is more difficult in order to learn then other relevant subjects like arts, computer etc. So there is no student can be ready to choose difficut path where there is easy alternative is present. As we know that choosing difficult subject means you take pressure on yourself on whole year and also you have chances of failure in future although other subjects are easy and there are very chances that thoese subjects also helps student in getting higher marks than science subject. Also learning science need different laboratory equipments and huge amount of investment and financial condition of todays school are not that much that they do there investment in laboratory. So interest gain when schools have resources to give high quality of education.

However this is not only reason that student doesn't choose science. There are many chances that students have interest in studying other subjects especially when it cimes to computer and IT related courses. Becauses everyone knew that present era is technology and students gain their interest in technology when they see technology envolving in everyone's life. So then every student takes steps towards future and starts in learning technology.

In conclusion, although science is an important subject for the development of society, many students avoid choosing it because they find it difficult, schools may lack proper laboratory facilities, and technology-related subjects seem more attractive and useful for their future careers. Therefore, schools should provide better resources and practical learning opportunities to increase students’ interest in science and help them understand its importance in the modern world.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the causes (difficulty, lack of resources, and the appeal of IT) and the effects (implied through the need for development). However, the development is somewhat uneven. While the causes are explored, the effects on society are not explicitly detailed beyond a brief mention in the conclusion. The ideas are relevant but could be more thoroughly extended to reach a higher band. The position is clear, but the lack of specific focus on the 'effects' aspect limits the depth of the response.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, body, and conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'First reason', 'However', and 'In conclusion', though some transitions feel a bit mechanical or repetitive. The progression of ideas is generally logical, but the internal structure of the paragraphs could be improved by better linking sentences to ensure a smoother flow of information. Referencing is occasionally slightly unclear, but the overall arrangement is coherent.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. There is frequent repetition of basic terms like 'subject', 'students', and 'technology'. Some word choices are slightly unnatural, such as 'huge amount of investment' or 'interest gain'. While the meaning is always clear, the range of vocabulary is limited, and there is little evidence of less common lexical items or idiomatic collocations that would demonstrate a higher level of proficiency.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('many students does not choose', 'interest gain'), missing articles ('in technology', 'in modern world'), and awkward phrasing ('there is no student can be ready'). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the message, they are frequent enough to impact the overall fluency and accuracy of the writing.
