Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the causes for the decline in science students and the effects on society. However, the development of these ideas is limited. The causes are briefly mentioned as the perceived difficulty of science and the rise of AI/IT, but these points lack depth or specific examples. Similarly, the effects on society are discussed in general terms, such as the inability to understand climate change, but the argument remains repetitive and lacks a structured, analytical approach. To reach a higher band, you should provide more detailed explanations and concrete examples for each point raised.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay lacks clear paragraphing, which is essential for organizing ideas logically. The entire response is written as a single block of text, making it difficult for the reader to follow the progression of arguments. While there are some attempts at cohesive devices like 'on the other hand' and 'so the conclusion is', the flow is often interrupted by run-on sentences and a lack of clear transitions between the causes and the effects. Improving the structure by using distinct paragraphs for the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is somewhat limited and repetitive. You frequently use basic terms like 'science', 'important', and 'subjects'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'converting to Ai' instead of 'shifting towards AI' and 'the main fact of growing this world' which is unclear. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the basic meaning, it lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You should aim to incorporate more academic collocations and precise terminology related to the topic of education and societal development.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. There is a lack of punctuation, particularly full stops, leading to many run-on sentences. You also struggle with subject-verb agreement and article usage, such as 'science give us thought' instead of 'science gives us insights' and 'the whole world is going to towards Ai'. The sentence structures are predominantly simple or repetitive, with few attempts at complex grammatical forms. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence boundaries and ensuring subject-verb agreement throughout your writing.
