Student answer (Band 5.0)

In various states not sufficient amount of scholars are preferring to read science at educational institutes. It is the alarming situation that not many students are selecting science . In this essay i will discuss the reasons behind this and its impact on the culture

Firstly, the most important reason is that the country lacks good opportunities of other subjects so the candidates are forced to study science.

for instance my friend once wanted to graduated in computer sciences but he has to study other subject against his will. Furthermore the study in our country is way more expensive for some people to afford, nevertheless a large group of individuals plan to get educated in humanities. I remembered once i cannot afford science so i studied masters in english

Moreover, the possible solutions to this frightening situation is that our government should provide fully funded scholarships to the students who are eligible for the criteria , the second solution on my mind is that more and more institutes should be opened for the students with a vast number of courses with reasonable and affordable fee structure. This will help a large group of scholars to get graduated in their respective choices

To conclude, we will have to fought with these issues for the betterment and growth of our society and students. Government should open desired institutes with less amount of fee in every city of the country .By following all of these instructions we can control this alarming problem easily

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt but fails to answer the specific questions asked. The prompt asks for the causes of students not choosing science and the effects on society. You provided some reasons, but your discussion of 'effects' is largely missing, as you pivoted to suggesting solutions (scholarships and new institutes) instead. The task does not ask for solutions. Furthermore, your arguments are underdeveloped; for example, you mention that science is expensive, but you do not explain how this impacts society at large. To improve, ensure you strictly follow the prompt's requirements and provide clear, logical consequences for the trend you are discussing.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the progression of ideas is often unclear. You use some cohesive devices like 'Firstly', 'Furthermore', and 'Moreover', but they are sometimes used mechanically or to connect unrelated points. The transition between the causes and your proposed solutions is abrupt because the prompt did not ask for solutions. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally confusing, such as in the second paragraph where the logic regarding your friend's experience and the cost of education is difficult to follow. Improving the logical flow between sentences would significantly enhance your score.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

Your vocabulary is generally basic and sometimes inaccurate. Phrases like 'read science' are not standard collocations; 'study' or 'major in' would be more appropriate. You use some repetitive phrasing, such as 'alarming situation' and 'large group of individuals'. There are also instances of word-choice errors, such as 'states' instead of 'countries' and 'scholars' when you likely mean 'students'. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use a wider range of academic vocabulary and ensure that your word choices are precise and appropriate for the context of an academic essay.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are issues with verb tense consistency, such as 'I remembered once i cannot afford' and 'we will have to fought'. You also struggle with subject-verb agreement and article usage (e.g., 'the most important reason is that the country lacks good opportunities of other subjects'). While you attempt some complex sentences, they are often marred by errors. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence structures, ensuring correct tense usage, and proofreading for common errors like missing capital letters for 'I' and proper punctuation.
