Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is largely believed that science is one of the subjects that is less preferable among scholars when they chose this subject in the universities in many countries. This paragraph will discuss the possible causes and effects along with relevant example in the upcoming paragraph.
To commence with, one of the prominent causes of this effect is the level of difficulty. As a lot of adolescents might find this subject challenging because this subject includes modules in it which are beyond their levels such as physics, mathematics and chemistry. These courses might frightened the student from their early age. Another contributing cause of this trend is the influence of their peer group. For instance, this course does widely interested among individuals because their friends do not want to study in this course. Moreover, they chose the subject according to their own choice. Since, student have no interest in learning this subject, enabling them to learn subject of their own choice independently. Thus, this is demonstrable evident that due to its difficulty level, peer influence and lack of interest make the student prefer other subjects in their curriculum.
Lacking of doctors and scientists is the major effect of not choosing science field at higher institutions. To explain it, if the number of students who are doing bachelors especially in science, technology and medical is lower, then the society may suffer from lack of brilliant students. Furthermore, its another impact might be on the universities who studied only these courses. To exemplify it, suppose a polytechnic college in UK will go to financial lose if there are negligible student present in engineering. In addition, country will have to suffer because they will be not developed because there are no professionals or expertise are present in their countries who learn science. Hence, it indicates that it can be devastating not only to individuals but also for whole nation.
In conclusion, level of difficulty, peer-influence and lack of interest are the causes of not taking science at tertiary levels schools which have a great impact on society in terms of loss of financial and expertise

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: causes (difficulty, peer influence, lack of interest) and effects (shortage of professionals, financial impact on institutions). While the ideas are relevant, they are somewhat under-developed. For example, the explanation of peer influence is confusingly phrased, and the link between student interest and the financial loss of polytechnics is not clearly articulated. To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific, logical explanations for your arguments rather than relying on general statements. The position is clear, but the development of ideas lacks the depth required for a higher score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion' to link your thoughts. However, some of the referencing is unclear, such as in the second paragraph where the connection between peer influence and the decision to study is muddled. Additionally, some transitions feel mechanical. To improve, focus on ensuring that each sentence flows naturally into the next and that your pronouns and linking words clearly refer back to the intended subjects.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'adolescents', 'curriculum', and 'tertiary levels'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'less preferable among scholars' (should be 'less preferred by students') and 'financial lose' (should be 'financial loss'). Some phrases are repetitive, and the vocabulary lacks the precision required for a higher band. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and ensuring that words are used in their correct grammatical form.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity, such as 'these courses might frightened the student' (should be 'frighten'), 'this course does widely interested' (should be 'is not widely interesting'), and 'there are no professionals or expertise are present'. Subject-verb agreement and verb tense consistency are areas that need significant attention. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band score.
