Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the causes of the decline in science students and the effects on society. However, the development is somewhat limited. While you identify 'difficulty' as a cause and 'shortage of innovators' as an effect, the arguments lack depth and specific, well-explained examples. For instance, the personal anecdote about studying derivatives is not particularly relevant to the broader societal trend. The position is clear, but the ideas are presented in a somewhat repetitive manner. To improve, focus on expanding your points with more logical analysis rather than just listing them, and ensure your examples are more representative of global trends.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or slightly unnatural. For example, starting sentences with 'In the context, For me,' or 'A data has illustrated' disrupts the flow. There is also an over-reliance on simple connectors like 'Moreover' and 'Furthermore' to link ideas. While the progression of ideas is generally logical, the lack of sophisticated referencing and the repetitive nature of the transitions prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Improving the variety and placement of linking words will enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. You use some academic-style words like 'innovators,' 'scarcity,' and 'declination,' but there are frequent issues with collocation and word choice, such as 'A data of not picking' (which is grammatically and lexically awkward) and 'huge crisis on researchers.' Some phrases are used incorrectly, such as 'negative mentality among the scholars.' To reach a higher band, you should focus on using more natural collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing. Expanding your range of topic-specific vocabulary related to education and economics would also be beneficial.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('The major factors is,' 'Many impacts has been,' 'Low self-confidence have lead'), incorrect article usage ('A data'), and awkward phrasing ('is seemed to be in upward trend'). While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of these errors prevents the writing from being considered accurate. To improve, focus on mastering subject-verb agreement and refining your use of articles and prepositions. Proofreading for these specific types of errors will significantly improve your score.
