Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response is significantly under the required word count of 250 words, reaching only 133 words. Because the essay is incomplete and cuts off mid-sentence, the task is not fully addressed. While the introduction identifies some causes and effects, the body paragraphs are underdeveloped and fail to provide the necessary depth or examples required for a full response. The failure to complete the essay prevents a clear position from being sustained throughout. To improve, you must ensure you have enough time to develop your arguments fully and complete the task in its entirety.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay shows some attempt at logical organization, with an introduction and the start of body paragraphs. However, the abrupt ending and the incomplete nature of the sentences significantly disrupt the flow of ideas. Cohesive devices are used sparingly, and the lack of a conclusion means the overall progression is not clear. Paragraphing is attempted, but the content within the paragraphs is too fragmented to demonstrate effective cohesion. To improve, focus on completing your thoughts and using linking words like 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'in addition' to connect your ideas more smoothly.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, but it is quite limited and repetitive. There are some errors in word choice, such as 'currier opportunities' (career) and 'science stream' (scientific fields). The range of vocabulary is insufficient to demonstrate the flexibility required for higher bands. You should aim to use more precise terminology related to the topic, such as 'academic disciplines', 'technological innovation', or 'professional prospects', rather than relying on basic descriptive terms. Expanding your vocabulary will help you express your ideas with greater clarity and sophistication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Examples include 'students are decreasing to study' (should be 'fewer students are choosing to study') and 'Science subject is considered as difficult subject' (missing articles). Punctuation errors, such as the space before the comma in 'society ,', are also present. The incomplete sentences make it difficult to assess your full control over grammar. Focus on subject-verb agreement, correct article usage, and ensuring that your sentences are complete and grammatically sound.
