Student answer (Band 6.0)
Science is a systematic way of learning about the world through observation, testing, and evidence which contributes to the development and invention of new projects. In this contemporary world the ratio of students opting to learn more about science is decreasing over many countries. This essay will be mainly based on the discussion of causes and effects of this aspect on the upbringing society.
To begin with the reasoning over the declining subject preference toward science by undergraduates is the dedication needed to learn a subject which has a deep research to do and consistency to give years behind it. The courses are hard to learn and is not a cup to tea for eveyone everyone furthermore needs hours of motivated studying meanwhile labs and projects take up all free time. One of the other issue is the lack of expertise and the way of teaching provided by schools and other eductational platforms as this is the subject which needs an appropriate guidance whereas In schools, science education often narrows down into rigid exam preparation and memorization to hit target grades, draining away the natural wonder of the subject.
A decline in public interest and literacy in science weakens a society's ability to navigate technological advancements, makes communities more vulnerable to misinformation, and hinders economic competitiveness. When people disengage from science, it creates widespread ripple effects across public health, governance, and innovation projects which will eventually lead to significant declination over the development of a country.
In conclusion countries should encourage students and youth to opt for the science field as a major course at university.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The essay addresses both parts of the prompt: causes and effects. However, the development is somewhat uneven. The causes are discussed with some detail regarding the difficulty of the subject and teaching methods, but the effects section is more general and could benefit from more specific examples or a deeper exploration of the societal impact. The position is clear, but the conclusion is quite brief and does not fully synthesize the points made in the body paragraphs. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is supported with a concrete example or a more detailed explanation of the logical link to the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To begin with' and 'In conclusion', though some transitions feel a bit mechanical or repetitive. The flow of ideas is generally easy to follow, but the internal structure of the second paragraph is slightly cluttered due to run-on sentences and a lack of clear punctuation between distinct points. Improving the use of linking words to show contrast or consequence more naturally would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, with some attempts at more sophisticated phrasing like 'systematic way of learning' and 'technological advancements'. However, there are instances of awkward phrasing and word choice, such as 'upbringing society' and 'significant declination over the development'. The use of the idiom 'cup to tea' contains a typo ('to' instead of 'of'). To improve, focus on using collocations more accurately and avoiding overly simplistic or slightly misused academic-sounding terms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('One of the other issue') and run-on sentences in the second paragraph. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas and capitalization after periods. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on sentence boundary control and proofreading for basic errors would be highly beneficial.
