Student answer (Band 5.0)
Nowdays we can see in many of the countries number of the students are choosing to study science at university than before. Because in these days students got lots of option for pursuing their career.
The main cause of it is because science is consider as the hardest subject among all and also it is difficult to get good paying job in this field according to your studies either the student have to go for the abroad. So choosing other subject may be easier and also are good paying, student doesn't have to leave the country in search of good paying job. For instance Studying Financial subjects can be more easier and they can get the decent paying jobs through it. The number of jobs are more in those field. People can also keep doing jobs and also start their side business too.
The effects that it have in the society is shortage on people in those fields like engineer, doctor, scientist, researchers and many more. Country has to rely on other country manpower for it. The country will be one step back due to lack of those skilled manpower in out country. For eg If their will be less number of engineer and doctor in the place they will be more in demand and the charges will also be high of it.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt (causes and effects), but the development is insufficient. The essay is significantly under the 250-word minimum, which limits the depth of the arguments. While the causes (perceived difficulty, job market) and effects (shortage of professionals, reliance on foreign manpower) are identified, they are not fully extended or supported with sophisticated reasoning. The introduction is also slightly contradictory, as it suggests more students are choosing science, which contradicts the prompt's premise. To improve, you must expand on your points with more detailed explanations and ensure the response meets the length requirement to allow for full development of ideas.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into three paragraphs, which provides a basic structure. However, the progression of ideas is sometimes disjointed. Cohesive devices are used, but they are often repetitive or used incorrectly, such as starting sentences with 'Because' or 'So' in a way that feels informal. Referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly in the second paragraph where the link between 'financial subjects' and the general argument about science is not smoothly integrated. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'in contrast') and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that flows logically into the next.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, which restricts the ability to convey complex ideas. Phrases like 'good paying job' are used multiple times, and there are several errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'studying financial subjects can be more easier' (should be 'easier') and 'shortage on people' (should be 'shortage of people'). There is little evidence of less common lexical items or idiomatic language. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise academic vocabulary and avoid repeating the same basic phrases throughout the essay.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex sentences, but grammatical errors are frequent and occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('The effects that it have', 'If their will be'), article usage ('in the society', 'in out country'), and sentence fragments. Punctuation is also inconsistent. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic structures prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement will significantly improve your score.
