Student answer (Band 5.0)
In many countries few students are choosing to study at university because it is a practical subject and everyone cannot afford this so they can choose different stream .
Firstly few students are choosing the science subject at college because this subject has a higher education and has a largest fees so their parents cannot pay this so they did not choose this subject . It is a difficult subject , now a days students choose easy subject so they can score good marks while they can easy pay their fees . Now university take the entrance test while in beginning of admission , this is also the reason for student to not choose this harder subject , in moderate, time score is also important and they can choose easy subject .
On other side i think that another subject is also important because they have their own vital . They choose easy subject, so they can lean easy . They have freedom to choose their own subject . Now student are choosing more easier subject . This impacts on society because the science will not have a opportunity for jobs .
In my opinion , i believe that every student choose their subject by their own strategy and those student who have interest they can choose to study science and normal students can choose different subject like arts, commerce or the student who will become a scientist or doctor they can prefer the science stream and these stream needs students .

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt (causes and effects), but the development is limited and often repetitive. The ideas regarding the cost of science education and the preference for 'easier' subjects are relevant, but they lack depth and specific examples. The explanation of the effects on society is vague, mentioning only a lack of job opportunities without exploring the broader implications for innovation or economic development. The position is somewhat unclear, as the final paragraph shifts focus to personal choice rather than addressing the societal consequences requested in the prompt. To improve, you should expand on your points with concrete examples and ensure a more logical flow of ideas.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is often disjointed. While some linking words like 'Firstly' and 'On other side' are used, they are sometimes misused or do not effectively connect the sentences. The internal structure of the paragraphs is weak, with sentences often feeling like a list of points rather than a cohesive argument. Referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the logic. To improve, focus on using a wider range of cohesive devices (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'in contrast') and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that directly relates to the prompt.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, which limits the ability to convey complex ideas. Phrases like 'easy subject', 'harder subject', and 'good marks' are used repeatedly. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'has a largest fees' and 'lean easy' (likely meaning 'learn easily'). The range of vocabulary is insufficient to discuss the topic with precision. To reach a higher band, you should aim to incorporate more academic vocabulary related to education and societal issues, and focus on using words in their correct context, such as 'tuition fees', 'academic rigour', or 'career prospects'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'university take'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are simple or run-on, and there is a lack of complex structures. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the placement of commas. For example, 'In my opinion , i believe' contains unnecessary spacing and capitalization errors. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring correct verb tenses, and practicing the use of complex sentences with subordinate clauses to demonstrate a wider grammatical range.
