Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the causes for the decline in science students and the effects on society. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention that science is perceived as 'hard' and 'theory-based,' these points are repeated rather than expanded upon with depth. The effects on society are also listed briefly, such as the impact on the economy and innovation, but they lack specific examples or detailed explanation. To reach a higher band, you should aim to elaborate on your points with more specific reasoning or hypothetical scenarios to demonstrate a deeper understanding of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use basic cohesive devices like 'To begin with,' 'Secondly,' and 'In conclusion' to signal transitions. However, the flow within paragraphs is sometimes mechanical, and the use of referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'Effect on the society of lacking in the numbers of science students could effect in many ways.' Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence logically follows the previous one will help improve the overall progression of your argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it is somewhat repetitive and lacks precision. You frequently use basic terms like 'hard,' 'easy,' and 'boring.' There are also several word-choice errors, such as 'studnets automatically do interest in it' (should be 'take an interest') and 'reduce in science and technology innovative' (should be 'reduction in innovation'). To improve, you should focus on using more academic collocations and precise terminology related to education and economics, such as 'rigorous curriculum,' 'career prospects,' or 'technological advancement.'
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('students is insufficient'), article usage ('In majority of nations'), and incorrect word forms ('effect' used instead of 'affect'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma placement. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like articles and verb forms will be very beneficial.
