Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: causes (lack of interest, high study demands, financial cost) and effects (technological stagnation, doctor shortages). However, the development is somewhat repetitive. For instance, the point about 'lots of study' is repeated across multiple sentences without adding new depth. While the position is clear, the supporting examples, such as the mention of Nepal and Nigeria, are a bit simplistic and lack the analytical depth required for a higher band. To improve, focus on expanding the implications of these points rather than restating the same ideas in different ways.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'Meanwhile' and 'Similarly' are used frequently but do not always logically connect the ideas. There are also issues with referencing; for example, 'it' is used repeatedly without a clear antecedent, making some sentences difficult to parse. The progression of ideas is present but feels somewhat disjointed due to the repetitive nature of the arguments and the reliance on basic transition words.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range expected at higher levels. There is significant repetition of basic terms like 'subject', 'study', 'people', and 'science'. Some word choices are unnatural, such as 'not choosing the science subject' or 'became graduated from it'. There are also minor errors in collocation, such as 'it have so much complicated chapter'. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more academic collocations and synonyms to avoid repetitive phrasing and demonstrate a wider range of vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but accuracy is inconsistent. There are frequent errors in subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'it require', 'it have', 'it effects') and article usage (e.g., 'the science subject'). Some sentences are poorly constructed, such as 'the slower technological developments and shortage of doctors in the future', which lacks a main verb. While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in basic grammar and sentence structure prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on proofreading for subject-verb agreement would significantly improve the quality.
