Student answer (Band 5.5)

In this new era, there are many countries are facing some common problem that not many growing ups are choosing science related subjects. In the back of this problem there are many reasons and some serious long term issues.

On the one hand, school goers are not choosing scientific courses because of some main reasons such as less salaries and lack of visible impact. They are drifting toward the art subjects because these subjects promise more annual packages. However, art based subjects are heavily discussed among students and have more visible impacts. Whereas scientific degrees require heavy mathematics and physic knowledge which is student sometime fail to match. For example, a prominent digital media house published a complete survey which showed that pupils do not to enroll into science subject because of vast science knowledge requirement.

On the other hand, science related subjects are immensely important because without them it is extremely hard to discover and invent. Not only inventions bit it also create unemployment in technical fields which can ultimately cause many complications in the long run and can generate a gap in new scientific advancements. For instance, if a science institution lack of technical expert and scientists, they might slow down a new advancements which can impact not only on countries but on humanity itself because science has been partner of humans.

In conclusion, after briefly and thoroughly examining its disadvantages and causes as well as well as new generation behaviour. I firmly feel that this constant trend of pupils saying no to science related subjects will cause big impact on society.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: causes and effects. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the explanation regarding 'less salaries' and 'visible impact' is a good starting point but lacks depth or specific examples to fully support the argument. The second paragraph mentions 'inventions' and 'unemployment' as effects, but the connection between the lack of students and these outcomes is slightly vague. To reach a higher band, you should provide more concrete, real-world examples or more detailed logical chains to explain how these causes lead to the stated societal effects.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, and there is a logical progression from causes to effects. You use some cohesive devices like 'On the one hand,' 'On the other hand,' and 'In conclusion.' However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'In the back of this problem.' Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'Not only inventions bit it also create unemployment,' where the subject of the sentence is ambiguous. Improving the variety and natural flow of your linking words will help improve the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'scientific degrees,' 'technical fields,' and 'scientific advancements.' However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'growing ups' instead of 'young people' or 'students,' and 'art subjects' instead of 'humanities.' The phrase 'science has been partner of humans' is also unnatural. While your vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning, you need to work on using more precise academic collocations and avoiding informal or non-standard phrasing to achieve a higher score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of reading. Examples include 'there are many countries are facing' (double verb), 'pupils do not to enroll' (incorrect verb form), and 'if a science institution lack of technical expert' (subject-verb agreement and preposition error). While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in basic grammar and sentence construction prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct verb patterns will significantly improve your accuracy.
