Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: causes (difficulty, lack of infrastructure, lack of recognition) and effects (economic impact). However, the development is somewhat superficial. While the ideas are relevant, they are not fully extended. For example, the mention of 'lack of infrastructure' is a good point, but it could have been supported with a more specific example or a deeper explanation of how this directly discourages students. The position is clear, but the overall depth of analysis is limited, which is characteristic of a Band 6.0 performance.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. There is a basic attempt at using cohesive devices (e.g., 'Moreover', 'As a result', 'In conclusion'). However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly inaccurate, such as the transition 'Since, it also create...' which lacks a clear logical connection to the previous sentence. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow between sentences could be smoother to improve the overall progression of ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. There is some repetition of basic terms like 'students', 'science', and 'countries'. Some word choices are slightly unnatural or imprecise, such as 'its contain included on its text book' and 'doing inventions'. While the meaning is generally clear, the range of vocabulary is limited, and there is little evidence of less common lexical items or idiomatic collocations that would be required for a higher band score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('the effect it have', 'these two country totally depends') and article usage. Punctuation is generally functional, but some sentences are clunky or grammatically incomplete. While the errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the message, they are frequent enough to indicate a lack of control over more complex structures, keeping the score in the 5.5 to 6.0 range.
