Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The essay addresses both parts of the prompt—causes and effects—but the development is limited. While you identify reasons like the perceived difficulty of science and language barriers, the explanation is underdeveloped and lacks depth. The effects on society are mentioned, but the examples provided, such as 'safety alarms,' are not clearly linked to the broader societal impact of a lack of science graduates. To improve, you should provide more logical, well-supported arguments. The conclusion is also quite brief and does not effectively summarize the main points discussed in the body paragraphs.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the progression of ideas is often disjointed. You use basic cohesive devices like 'On the one hand' and 'Moreover,' but the transitions between sentences are sometimes mechanical or confusing. For instance, the link between the language barrier in Pakistan and the choice of subjects is not clearly articulated. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow your line of reasoning throughout the essay.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'good,' 'tough,' and 'many.' There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'they spent only few hours on books' and 'this language is uses in art subjects.' You attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary, but the lack of precision and frequent errors in word formation hinder the clarity of your message. To reach a higher band, focus on learning collocations and using more precise academic vocabulary instead of simple, everyday language.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'they are does not choosing,' 'this language is uses'), article usage, and sentence structure. You rely mostly on simple sentence structures, and attempts at more complex sentences are often faulty, leading to confusion. For example, the sentence 'the public do not get information about the medical and engineering fields, then they need help when they suffer from diseases' is grammatically fragmented. Improving your control over basic sentence construction is essential.
