Student answer (Band 5.5)

In this modern world, students are not interested to pursue in science in the campus because now its a time of digital world. Can students get proposed and high paying jobs? No, because the artificial intelligence have taken the place of scientists. But there is a great effect on society that students are only involving in business and digital jobs, rather than showing interest in science.

To commence with, there is a problem in our study system that our government is not giving proper syllabus and instruments which a science students needs, Moreover its very costly to study science in private universities, For example, if the education system of the country is corrupted then its very difficult for the science student to study.

Furthermore, parents are also indulging their children to their family businesses since they were in their high schools, after that they have their mindset ready that only business can offer them more profit and this is affecting their society because least of the students have interest in the science. To illustrate this, parents should give proper freedom to their children to choose their stream and should respect their decision.

In conclusion, education system needs to be ethical and make the science education practical rather than theoretical because to much of theory can change the persons interest. However universities should also support the students by giving them scholarships rather than charging to much fees, because if the study will be cheaper and beneficial then students will freedomely choose science to commence their career.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt—causes and effects—but the development is inconsistent. While the causes (educational system, parental influence) are identified, the discussion on effects is quite limited and lacks depth, focusing mostly on the shift toward business. The argument that AI has replaced scientists is a bold claim that is not well-supported, and the essay lacks a clear, sustained position. To improve, you should provide more specific examples of how the lack of science graduates impacts society (e.g., technological stagnation or healthcare shortages) rather than focusing solely on the educational environment.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as the transition 'after that they have their mindset ready'. Some sentences lack logical flow, particularly in the introduction where the connection between the 'digital world' and the decline in science interest is disjointed. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the progression of ideas within paragraphs could be smoother to ensure a more professional academic tone.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward phrasing or incorrect word choice, such as 'students are not interested to pursue in science' (should be 'pursue science') and 'students will freedomely choose' (should be 'freely'). The repetition of basic terms like 'science' and 'business' limits the sophistication of the writing. To achieve a higher score, focus on using more academic collocations and precise terminology related to education and societal trends.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('artificial intelligence have taken'), incorrect preposition usage ('interested to pursue in'), and punctuation errors, such as using commas where full stops are needed. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and sentence boundary control would be highly beneficial.
