Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 129 words. Consequently, the development of ideas is severely limited. While the essay attempts to address the causes (misconceptions about difficulty and duration) and touches upon the effects, the lack of depth and the failure to fully explore the consequences for society result in a very underdeveloped response. The ideas are presented in a fragmented manner, and the conclusion is entirely missing. To improve, you must expand each point with detailed explanations and relevant examples to meet the length requirement and provide a comprehensive answer to both parts of the prompt.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay shows some attempt at paragraphing, but the logical progression is weak. The transition between ideas is abrupt, and the use of cohesive devices is minimal and sometimes misused. For instance, the phrase 'On the other hand' is used to introduce a point that is essentially a continuation of the previous argument rather than a contrast. The lack of a clear introduction and conclusion makes the overall structure feel incomplete. To improve, focus on using linking words effectively to connect sentences and paragraphs, and ensure each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that supports your main argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite basic and repetitive. There are several instances of awkward word choices, such as 'read science' instead of 'study science' and 'tedious work to do'. The phrase 'a few number of learners' is grammatically incorrect and unnatural. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas clearly. To improve, try to incorporate more academic collocations and precise terminology related to education and societal issues. Avoid repeating the same words and focus on using synonyms to enhance the variety and sophistication of your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. Examples include 'Student have it in mind' (subject-verb agreement), 'problem being discourage' (incorrect verb form), and 'to study medicals student are required' (missing articles and pluralization). The sentence structures are mostly simple, with very few attempts at complex sentences. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing commas and full stops. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence structures, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of articles. Practice writing more complex sentences using subordinating conjunctions to demonstrate a wider range of grammatical control.
