Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.5
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, as it is only 187 words long and remains unfinished. While the essay identifies some causes (complexity of subjects, career interests) and effects (economic impact, quality of healthcare), the development is severely limited due to the incomplete nature of the text. The conclusion is cut off mid-sentence, which prevents a clear summary or final position. To improve, you must ensure you fully address both parts of the prompt with sufficient detail and complete your essay within the word limit.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay attempts to use basic cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Furthermore', and 'In conclusion'. However, the logical flow is disrupted by the incomplete ending. Paragraphing is present, but the transition between ideas is somewhat mechanical. The referencing is occasionally unclear, and the lack of a completed structure makes it difficult to assess the overall coherence. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider range of linking words and ensure that each paragraph is fully developed and logically connected to the next.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and contains several spelling errors, such as 'curical' (crucial), 'live' (lives), 'trianees' (trainees), 'persuading' (pursuing), and 'unversity' (university). These errors are frequent and occasionally impede the reader's understanding. The range of vocabulary is basic, relying on simple terms rather than more precise academic language. To improve, focus on learning the correct spelling of common academic words and try to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to education and societal development.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('undergraduate do not', 'many students have interested'), article usage, and sentence structure. The essay relies mostly on simple sentences, and attempts at complex structures are often faulty, such as 'if less pupil will choose research... it will effect the growth'. The misuse of 'effect' instead of 'affect' is also a recurring issue. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like subject-verb agreement and word forms.
