Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt (causes and effects), but the development is limited. The ideas are somewhat repetitive and lack depth. For example, the mention of 'poor facilities' and 'lack of skilled workers' is stated but not fully explained. The response is also under the 250-word minimum, which negatively impacts the development of the argument. While the position is clear, the supporting points are underdeveloped, and the conclusion is somewhat disconnected from the body paragraphs. To improve, you should expand on your examples and ensure each point is fully explored to meet the word count requirement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay uses basic cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'First and foremost', and 'in conclusion'. However, the flow is often mechanical and sometimes confusing. For instance, the transition 'resultingly, country GDP goes down' is awkward. Paragraphing is present, but the internal structure of the paragraphs lacks logical progression. The referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the final paragraph where the connection between the conclusion and the preceding arguments is weak. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words will help the essay flow more naturally.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and contains several errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'bussiness', 'II' (likely meant IT), 'exhorbitant', and 'theses'. There is some attempt to use academic vocabulary, but it is often used incorrectly or in an unnatural way, such as 'prohibited cost' instead of 'prohibitive cost'. The range is sufficient to convey basic meaning, but the frequent errors and lack of precision in word choice prevent a higher score. Focusing on learning correct collocations and proofreading for spelling will significantly improve your lexical range.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay relies on a mix of simple and some attempted complex sentences, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Common issues include missing articles ('in the recent years', 'country GDP'), subject-verb agreement errors ('these types of courses needs'), and punctuation mistakes (spaces before commas). While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar and sentence structure hinders the overall quality. You should focus on mastering basic sentence construction and ensuring subject-verb agreement before attempting more complex structures.
