Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 132 words. Consequently, the ideas are significantly underdeveloped. While the prompt asks for both causes and effects, the response focuses almost exclusively on the difficulty of medical studies, failing to address the broader societal impacts of a lack of science graduates. The argument is fragmented and lacks a clear structure or logical progression. To improve, you must expand on each point with specific examples and ensure all parts of the prompt are addressed thoroughly.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The essay lacks a clear structure. There is no introduction, body paragraphs, or conclusion. The ideas are presented in a disjointed manner, making it difficult for the reader to follow the argument. Cohesive devices are largely absent or misused, such as the repetitive use of 'But' to start sentences. The paragraphing is non-existent, which hinders the logical flow of the response. To improve, you should organize your essay into clear paragraphs, each focusing on a single main idea, and use linking words like 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'in contrast' to connect your thoughts.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.5
The vocabulary is very basic and often repetitive. There are significant issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'most another caste students' and 'most dangerous course is MBBS'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas effectively. Many phrases are awkward or grammatically incorrect, which impedes communication. To improve, focus on learning topic-specific vocabulary related to education and science, and practice using these words in full, meaningful sentences rather than isolated fragments.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that often obscure the intended meaning. There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and the simple sentences used are often flawed, such as 'Science is beneficial too or benefits not'. Issues with subject-verb agreement, article usage, and sentence fragments are prevalent throughout the text. The punctuation is also inconsistent. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring every sentence has a clear subject and verb, and practice using subordinating conjunctions to create more complex and accurate sentences.
