Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the causes (difficulty of subjects, complex concepts) and the effects (shortage of skilled workers, economic dependence). However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For example, the point about 'shortage of scientists' is mentioned in both the second and third paragraphs without significant expansion. To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific, nuanced examples or explore the long-term societal implications beyond just economic dependence. The position is clear, but the overall depth of analysis remains at a surface level.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'Consequently', and 'To recapitulate'. However, the flow is occasionally hindered by mechanical transitions and some awkward phrasing, such as 'To me more precise' (should be 'To be more precise') and 'There are some various impact'. The referencing is sometimes unclear, and the connection between sentences could be smoother to improve the overall progression of ideas. Paragraphing is present, but the internal structure of the paragraphs needs more sophisticated linking.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band. There are several spelling errors ('ecadamic', 'forgein', 'chossing') and word choice issues, such as 'main stream' instead of 'field' or 'discipline'. You rely on basic vocabulary and struggle with collocations, such as 'every individuals' instead of 'every individual'. To improve, focus on using more academic collocations and ensure accurate spelling of key terms. The range is sufficient to communicate the message, but it is not flexible or sophisticated.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('students are prefer', 'every nations are'), article usage ('the cause', 'a pivotal role'), and awkward sentence construction ('due to that its impact on their ecadamic result'). While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. You should focus on proofreading for basic errors like pluralization and verb tense consistency.
