Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The essay addresses both parts of the prompt: causes and effects. However, the development of ideas is limited. For example, the claim that students lack 'patient' (patience) or that science is 'annoying' is somewhat superficial. The effects section mentions pharmaceutical and manufacturing industries, which is relevant, but the explanation remains general. To reach a higher band, you need to provide more specific examples or deeper analysis of why these trends occur. The position is clear, but the supporting arguments lack the depth required for a higher score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'As consequently' and 'To put it in nutshell' are non-standard and disrupt the flow. While there is a logical progression from causes to effects, the transitions between sentences are sometimes abrupt. The referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the second paragraph where the connection between 'teenager' and the subsequent points is not smoothly linked.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several instances of word-choice errors, such as 'exhausted subject' (instead of 'exhausting' or 'demanding') and 'distracking' (which is not a standard English word). The phrase 'rich time' is also an unnatural collocation. While you attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'pharmaceutical' and 'manufacturing', the overall range is limited, and errors in word formation occasionally impede the clarity of your message.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures, and there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('Some student believes'), article usage ('the indispensable part of the of the'), and incorrect word forms ('it is consequence'). Complex sentence attempts are often faulty, such as 'through make it interesting subject'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. These errors are frequent and sometimes make the reader work harder to understand your intended meaning.
