Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt (causes and effects), but the development is limited and often unclear. The ideas regarding financial barriers and the societal impact of a lack of skilled professionals are relevant, but they are not sufficiently extended or supported with clear examples. Furthermore, the response falls short of the 250-word minimum requirement, which negatively impacts the overall task completion. To improve, you should aim to provide more detailed explanations and concrete examples for each point raised, ensuring that your arguments are fully developed and logically connected to the prompt.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical flow is frequently interrupted by fragmented sentences and unclear transitions. While there is an attempt to use cohesive devices like 'Moreover' and 'In conclusion', their usage is often mechanical or grammatically incorrect, making it difficult to follow the progression of ideas. The referencing is sometimes ambiguous, and the relationship between sentences is not always clear. To improve, focus on using transition words more naturally and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that links back to the main argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, often relying on basic terms that do not fully convey the intended meaning. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'science filed' instead of 'science field' and 'fully founded' instead of 'fully funded'. These errors occasionally impede communication. To achieve a higher band score, you need to expand your range of vocabulary and focus on using words in their correct context. Practicing collocations and learning synonyms for common words will help you express your ideas with more precision and variety.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The grammatical range is very limited, consisting mostly of simple, error-prone sentences. There are frequent errors in subject-verb agreement, tense usage, and sentence structure, such as 'the student get a high score and than deciding filed'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, which makes the text difficult to read. There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and the errors are frequent enough to cause difficulty for the reader. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and then gradually introduce more complex structures like relative clauses and conditional sentences.
