Student answer (Band 5.0)
There are several factors that can explain why nowadays students are not much interested study science at universities. This is largely because students choose easy pathway to study such as iit sector and some want to open their own business. As result some countries facing shortage of scientist and not develop their own technology these terms can cause of economy downfall of countries.
Turning to the effects of this issue, it can have significant implication for economical growth of a country. one major consequence is that it effects on development of technology sectors this is mainly because the shortage of sciencetist or engineers country have to spent their money on outside sciencetist and it become very costly for every individual. In long term this may also make direct effect on healthcare sector becuase the x ray machine are very costly to buy and some countries also also put tarrifs on it as result treatment cost increase in coming years.
In conclusion the declining students in science sector can be attributed to several factors, particularly the defficulty of science subjects and incresing popularity of others subjects. In my view its effect on society are significant especially in terms of a shortage of sciencetist and slower technological development.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt (causes and effects), but the development is insufficient. The ideas, such as the preference for the 'iit sector' or the impact on healthcare, are mentioned but lack depth and supporting examples. Furthermore, the response is significantly under the 250-word minimum, which prevents a full development of the argument. The position is clear, but the lack of elaboration on the causes and the limited exploration of the societal effects result in a response that is only partially developed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the flow between ideas is often mechanical or abrupt. While there is an attempt to use cohesive devices like 'Turning to' and 'In conclusion', the internal structure of the paragraphs is weak. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the logical progression of ideas is hindered by the brevity of the text. The use of linking words is basic and sometimes repetitive, which limits the overall coherence of the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. There are frequent spelling errors such as 'sciencetist' (scientist), 'defficulty' (difficulty), and 'incresing' (increasing). The range of vocabulary is narrow, relying on simple terms like 'easy pathway' or 'costly'. There is little evidence of less common lexical items or an awareness of collocation. To improve, you should focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensuring correct spelling, as these errors occasionally make the text harder to follow.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but accuracy is inconsistent. There are frequent grammatical errors, such as missing articles ('shortage of scientist'), subject-verb agreement issues ('countries facing shortage'), and punctuation errors. Sentence boundaries are sometimes unclear, and the misuse of prepositions and verb forms (e.g., 'not much interested study science') frequently impedes the reader's understanding. A greater focus on basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors is necessary to reach a higher band.
