Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: causes and effects. However, the development of ideas is inconsistent. The causes provided (university admission policies and high fees) are somewhat narrow and do not fully explore the broader societal or educational reasons why students might avoid science. The effects section is more relevant, touching on industry reliance and medical progress. The position is clear, but the arguments lack depth and rely on repetitive phrasing. To improve, you should expand on the 'why' behind these trends, such as the perceived difficulty of science subjects or career prospects, rather than focusing solely on university administration.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'Moving further ahead' and 'To explicate' are used, but they sometimes feel forced or do not logically connect the preceding and following sentences. There is also a lack of variety in linking words, with 'firstly' and 'secondly' being used repeatedly. The progression of ideas is sometimes hindered by awkward phrasing, making the flow feel disjointed at times. Improving the range and naturalness of your transitions will significantly enhance the readability of your work.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, often relying on basic terms like 'big', 'many', and 'lot of'. There are several instances of word-choice errors, such as 'addmmitions' (admissions), 'quilified' (qualified), and 'sciencetist' (scientists). The range is insufficient to express complex ideas with precision. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of academic vocabulary and frequent spelling errors prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. To improve, focus on learning topic-specific collocations related to education and society, and proofread carefully to eliminate basic spelling mistakes.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but accuracy is a significant issue. There are frequent errors in subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'there are causing numerous causes', 'university charge 13 lakh'), article usage, and sentence construction. Some sentences are difficult to parse due to these errors, such as 'if few students become medical researchers if may become more difficult'. While the intended meaning is usually understandable, the high frequency of grammatical errors causes some difficulty for the reader. You need to focus on basic sentence construction and subject-verb agreement to improve your accuracy.
