Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response is significantly under the 250-word minimum requirement, which severely limits your ability to develop your ideas. While you identify some causes, such as the 'complicated study syllabus' and 'lack of investment', the effects on society are only mentioned in a brief, underdeveloped sentence. Because the response is incomplete and fails to address the prompt with the necessary depth or length, it falls into the lower band range. To improve, you must expand on each point with specific examples and ensure you provide a full, balanced discussion of both causes and effects as requested by the task instructions.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay shows some attempt at logical organization, using transition words like 'On the one hand' and 'Secondly'. However, the progression is interrupted by the abrupt ending of the text. Paragraphing is present, but the lack of a concluding paragraph and the incomplete nature of the final sentence hinder the overall flow. To reach a higher band, ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and that ideas are linked more smoothly using a variety of cohesive devices, rather than relying on simple, repetitive transitions.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

Your vocabulary is generally basic and contains several errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'prefference', 'driectly', 'effect' (should be 'affect'), and 'quailty'. While you attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'technically advancement' (should be 'technological advancement'), the inaccuracies are frequent enough to cause some difficulty for the reader. To improve, focus on learning the correct spelling of common academic terms and practice using collocations correctly. Expanding your range of vocabulary beyond simple descriptors will also help improve your score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('students avoids', 'they wants') and incorrect word forms ('technically advancement'). The sentence structures are mostly simple, with limited attempts at complex sentences. Punctuation is also inconsistent, and the final sentence is incomplete. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and sentence construction. Once you have a solid foundation, try to incorporate more complex structures like relative clauses or conditional sentences to demonstrate a wider grammatical range.
