Student answer (Band 6.0)
Education remains a pressing concern worldwide, as scientific fields at universities are being ignored by students. This essay will explore the causes and potential effects of this phenomenon on community.
Several factors may be contributing to the avoidance of studying science, including-most importantly- the lack of motive, majority of students studying science suffer afterwards due to the few related job opportunities. For instance, scientists in my counrty, strugle the most from the poor financial status, which not only negatively influences their personal quality of life but also renders their progress in the scientific research, ending up seeking for pursuing their proffesions overseas-which is a challenge itself due to the little access our passport provides- or even shifting their lives into a whole different direction by pursuing a different scientifically unrealted job. Moreover, the lack of investment in these fields like renewing criteria and integrating theoritical knowledge with practical skills and scientific experiments may be a crucial discouraging factor distracting pupils from such studies.
Consequently, this will lead to multiple unwanted results affecting societal progress and personal nourishment. Discouraged people will be primarly concerned about their basic needs of life instead of effectively contributing to society and improving research in these fields like quantum physics, biology and medicine which are considered to be the cornerstone of academically developed future generations.
In conclusion, finding solution for the neglected scientific studies remains a challenge and a responsibility of not only governments and authorities but also citizens but spreading awareness to future generations. subsequently unlocking their potential

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the causes (such as poor financial status and lack of investment) and the effects (impact on societal progress and personal development). A clear position is maintained throughout the essay. However, some ideas, such as the effects on society, tend to be slightly over-generalized and could have been extended with more precise examples. The conclusion also introduces a slightly abrupt ending. Overall, the content is relevant, meets the prompt fully, and fits comfortably within Band 6.5 to 7.0 parameters. Band score awarded: 6.5.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with clear paragraphing separating the introduction, causes, effects, and conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Several factors', 'For instance', 'Moreover', and 'Consequently'. However, some sentences are excessively long and run-on, which blurs the logical progression, such as the long sentence beginning with 'For instance, scientists in my counrty...'. Referencing is occasionally unclear due to punctuation errors and dense phrasing. Paragraphing is present and appropriate, but the internal cohesion of the body paragraphs needs tighter control to reach a higher band. Band score awarded: 6.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common items such as 'pressing concern', 'cornerstone', and 'phenomenon'. However, there are several spelling errors and incorrect word choices, such as 'counrty', 'strugle', 'proffesions', and 'scientifically unrealted'. Additionally, collocations are sometimes awkward, like 'rendering their progress in the scientific research'. While communication is not heavily impeded, the frequency of lexical and spelling inaccuracies prevents the response from achieving a Band 7. Band score awarded: 6.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some ambitious structures. However, control over punctuation and sentence boundaries is weak. The essay contains several run-on sentences, notably the long sentence in the second paragraph that relies heavily on dashes and commas rather than proper subordination or separate clauses, leading to grammatical strain. Other minor errors include missing articles and incorrect prepositions. Although simple sentences are generally accurate, the frequency of structural slips in complex sentences places this firmly at Band 6.0.
