Student answer (Band 4.5)

after the advancement in the field of artificial intelligence it is observed that there is rapid downfall of interest in students for studying the science subjects in university there are multiples reasons behind it as we know that in he recent era there is continuously growth in the field of technology as compare to science because nations are focused on development of their peoples by facilitate them with advance things like artificial intelligence as it will become the future of every student furthermore science has become old because everything related to science is available on browsers so students prefer to technology as compare to science . it has great effect on our society moving backward science was so interesting subjects for students as students proudly said we are scientist but in the recent era technology is more preferable as compare to science according to my experience when the AI was lounged students are so shocked that we should go for technology advancement studies rather than science because the coming era is full of technology as scientifically methods are fully equipped in software's as we seen that the physical jobs in world rising companied are downward as technology meet their requirements in single or multiples websites eventually students thoughts that if we have strong grip in technology we are winners in future as everything has available on internet. in my recent experience my dearest friend has done their master in computer science and has strong experienced knowledge in coding as he applied in different recently the famous American company offer him a high value package due to skills present in himself so he will move soon to America and is dreams come true .

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the causes of declining science enrolment and the effects on society. The writer attempts to explain that technology and artificial intelligence are preferred over traditional science, and mentions societal impacts such as changing career preferences and high-value packages for computer science graduates. However, the ideas are often underdeveloped and lack clear, logical expansion. While the writer touches on relevant points, the arguments tend to wander and rely heavily on unsupported generalisations and a personal anecdote rather than broader societal analysis. The position is somewhat unclear due to convoluted explanations, placing this response at Band 5.0 in terms of task coverage and depth of development.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

Coherence and cohesion are significant weaknesses in this essay. The entire text is written as a single, massive run-on paragraph without any division into introductions, body paragraphs, or a conclusion. There is a complete lack of punctuation to guide the reader, with sentences bleeding into one another using lower-case letters and missing periods, as seen in '...prefer to technology as compare to science . it has great effect on our society...' Cohesive devices are either missing, repetitive, or inaccurate, such as 'moving backward' instead of looking forward or moving forward. The logical progression is difficult to follow because of the lack of paragraphing and erratic referencing, resulting in a Band 4.0 score.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.5

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, frequently revolving around words like 'science', 'technology', and 'students'. There are numerous lexical errors, awkward word choices, and collocations that reveal a limited range, such as 'rapid downfall of interest', 'in he recent era', 'scientifically methods', and 'lounged' instead of launched. The writer attempts to use less common vocabulary like 'artificial intelligence' and 'advancement', but these are offset by persistent word choice errors that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. Spelling errors such as 'software's' (incorrect apostrophe) and grammatical confusion between nouns and verbs further restrict the lexical score to Band 4.5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

Grammatically, the response demonstrates severe deficiencies. The entire text is essentially one long string of clauses linked by coordinating conjunctions like 'and', 'as', and 'because', without proper boundary punctuation or full stops. There is a lack of control over complex sentence structures, and basic sentence boundaries are consistently ignored. Frequent errors occur in verb tenses, subject-verb agreement, and prepositions, such as 'as we seen that', 'rising companied are downward', and 'has done their master'. These errors cause frequent strain and difficulty for the reader, limiting the grammatical assessment to Band 4.0.
