Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt, identifying causes such as academic difficulty and alternative career incentives, as well as societal effects like professional shortages and hindered technological development. However, the ideas are somewhat limited and under-developed, lacking detailed elaboration or convincing examples. Furthermore, the response is incomplete, trailing off at the end, and fails to meet the minimum length requirement of 250 words, as it contains only 236 words. This negative impact on word count directly affects task completion. Consequently, the score reflects a partial and truncated addressing of the task requirements.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay displays a basic overall arrangement with paragraphing attempted, although the final paragraph is abruptly cut off. Logical progression is visible in places, but cohesive devices are frequently mechanical, inaccurate, or missing, as seen in awkward transitions like 'On of the main reasons' and 'secondaly the main esue'. Referencing and linking between sentences occasionally lack clarity, causing the reader to pause. While paragraphing is present to separate causes and effects, the overall control of textual cohesion remains rudimentary and typical of a Band 5 performance.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is adequate to communicate basic ideas about career choices and university subjects, but it is marred by numerous spelling errors and incorrect word forms, such as 'universties', 'demage', 'markeet', 'intermidiate', 'intrest', and 'environmentel'. While the student attempts some less common lexical items like 'competitive salaries' and 'technological development', frequent errors in word choice and morphology, including 'relative departments beside of in science' and 'concept base', impede smooth reading and demonstrate limited lexical control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The text features a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but grammatical accuracy is very low. There are persistent, dense errors throughout, including missing auxiliary verbs ('students of intermidiate level consider these fields are'), incorrect prepositions ('put an bad impact of'), subject-verb agreement issues ('there will be no one... that could be teach'), and fragments or run-on structures. Punctuation and capitalization are also erratic. Because errors are frequent and often cause difficulty for the reader, the writing falls squarely into the Band 5 descriptor for grammatical accuracy.
