Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is often argued that in many countries young learners are slecting different curriculum to study in the university rather then to select science related degree in the university. There are several reasons of students to show an unexpected trend mainly nowadays, students can not invest their potential to the tough and demanding subjects of science. It is because of their more involvement in the social media plateforms and also due to unemployment after completing graduation. This trend has a detrimental effect on the progress of a country as well as for well-being of a person.

Although all subjects have their own significance which are studying in the universities by students, the arts and general subjects have no capacity to cope with growing technology. As develpoed countries approach to different milestones related to their scientific reasearch. For example, in the USA space companies are established to explore space and to invent new things. So, sceince studies are significant to tackle the hurdles of todays latest innovations for a country. By decreasing numbers of science graduates can make a country less progressive in the growing technology age. Moreover, young learners will face difficulties in the future. They will remain under-developed due to latest advancements and different tehnological way of living.

Additionally, after graduation many students are not successful to get their dream jobs. After investing their money and potential on the tough science studies when leraners not get benefited in terms of well-being and employment then they affect to other young learners not to pursu science studies.

In conclusin, in modern technological age, there should be proper legisaltion related to science education as proper employment after graduation and low investment. By pursuing science studies learners can make prgress for themselves and for their country.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, identifying causes such as the high difficulty level of science subjects, distraction from social media platforms, and graduate unemployment, while also discussing the societal effects like a slowdown in technological progress and individual underdevelopment. The position is generally clear throughout the essay. However, some ideas are repetitive and lack full extension, particularly when discussing the causes and effects in the second and third paragraphs. For instance, the mention of unemployment is brought up multiple times without adding deeply new perspectives. Overall, the task is adequately covered, aligning well with the Band 6 descriptors.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is divided into four paragraphs, following a standard introduction-body-conclusion structure. There is a general logical progression, moving from causes and effects to a concluding summary. However, paragraphing and internal cohesion are sometimes faulty. The transition between ideas within paragraphs can feel disjointed due to repetitive phrasing and weak cohesive devices. For example, sentences in the second paragraph start abruptly, such as 'As develpoed countries approach...' which lacks a main clause connection. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, as seen with ambiguous pronoun usage ('They will remain...'). Paragraphing is sufficient, but logical flow suffers from mechanical transitions, placing this response solidly in Band 5.5 to 6.0 territory, deserving a 5.5.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is adequate to communicate basic ideas related to education and technology, featuring attempts at less common words such as 'detrimental', 'legislation', and 'technological'. However, there are numerous lexical errors, word-choice inaccuracies, and spelling mistakes throughout the text. Examples include 'slecting' instead of 'selecting', 'plateforms' instead of 'platforms', 'develpoed' instead of 'developed', 'reasearch' instead of 'research', 'intrested' instead of 'interested', 'leraners' instead of 'learners', 'pursu' instead of 'pursue', 'conclusin' instead of 'conclusion', and 'legisaltion' instead of 'legislation'. These persistent errors and awkward collocations like 'least interest of young learners towards science subjects' limit the lexical score to Band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing introductory subordinate clauses such as 'Although all subjects have their own significance...' and 'After investing their money and potential...'. However, grammatical accuracy is weak, with frequent errors in verb tense, subject-verb agreement, and prepositions. Examples include 'young learners are slecting different curriculum to study in the university rather then to select science related degree', 'which are studying in the universities', 'By decreasing numbers of science graduates can make...', and 'when leraners not get benefited'. Furthermore, punctuation errors and missing articles are common. While meaning is generally retrievable, the frequency of non-systematic errors restricts the score to a Band 5.0.
