Student answer (Band 5.0)
Topic is related to the subject choosing of students in various coountries regarding science at university. Essay will describe the reasons for this situation and after that i will describe my opinion regarding this issue.
Mainly different universities have different criteria and merits of different subjects. Merit and the criterias are not same for every subject. As we know that all students are not sam they dont have same capability to study science or follow the criteria timetable or different things that are included in science subjects.Science subjects have high merit in almost all universities and also have high tuition fees. All student donotb fulfill the merit of university that is required for the admission in science subjects. Another reason can be high tuition fees or the mind of students also. Not all students wanted to be a doctor or go in a medical fields. Every student has his own mindset which he follows in university while choosing subjects in which he wants to make his future or go on. But if the number of science subjects will decrease rapidly it also have negative aspects on the society as, there will be shortage of medical students and there will be less doctors available in the fields and it will also effect the economy and society if medical needs will not be fullfilled according to the need of people living in society.
In my opinion high tuition fees, high merit and mindset of students are the main reasons behind it. To overcome this situation policies should be adapted to make easier for the students to study science subjects by reducing tuition fees in various high standard university and merit should be flexible for students.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt, identifying causes such as high tuition fees, stringent university entry criteria, and individual student mindsets, while also discussing the societal effects like a shortage of medical personnel. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. The prompt specifically asks about 'science' generally, but the student narrows the discussion almost exclusively to 'medical students' and 'doctors', missing the broader scope of science disciplines. Furthermore, the introduction is overly conversational and meta-descriptive ('Essay will describe the reasons...'), and the conclusion slightly drifts by offering solutions rather than purely summarising causes and effects. These limitations place the response comfortably at Band 5.0, as some aspects of the task are addressed only partially and ideas remain under-developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The essay is divided into three paragraphs, but the paragraphing is poorly managed. The body paragraph attempts to cover both causes and effects in a single, dense block of text without clear transitions between the two distinct parts of the prompt. Cohesive devices are basic and sometimes misused, such as repetitive use of 'and also', 'different things', and loose referencing like 'this situation' without a strongly established logical progression. The introduction is also structurally weak, lacking a proper thesis statement outline. There is some overall organization, but the lack of clear progression and mechanical cohesion restricts the score to Band 5.0.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive throughout the essay. The student frequently recycles words like 'subjects', 'merit', 'students', 'university', and 'high'. There are noticeable spelling and word choice errors, such as 'coountries', 'sam', 'dont', 'do notb', and awkward phrasing like 'mind of students' or 'go in a medical fields'. While the vocabulary is minimally adequate to convey basic concepts related to education and science, the limited range and frequent inaccuracies prevent it from reaching a higher band. This performance aligns with the Band 5.0 descriptors, where vocabulary is restricted and noticeable errors cause some difficulty.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but many complex attempts are marred by poor punctuation and grammatical errors. Run-on sentences are prevalent, particularly in the long body paragraph, which lacks proper comma splices and conjunction control (e.g., 'Merit and the criterias are not same for every subject. As we know that all students are not sam they dont have same capability...'). Subject-verb agreement errors ('criteria... are not same', 'student donotb fulfill') and missing articles frequently occur. Because frequent errors disrupt the flow and cause difficulty for the reader despite an attempt at varied clauses, a score of 5.0 is appropriate.
