Student answer (Band 5.0)

There are few students who select science subjects for their higher education in some countries. There are several reasons which promote the students to prefer non science subjects. This will leads to crucial downfall which we cannot overlooked, because it promote the destruction of society.

Firstly, the main reason which influence the students to select other subjects instead of science is the difficulty of learning in medical relevance courses. Recently, writers publish their books with difficult concepts that is not easy to learn and individuals tend to other courses. Because in term of achieving success in medical subjects is relatively difficult than others. Students with minimal struggle can achieve goods in other books. Moreover, every family push their childrens to get positions in their classes, so they select simple courses because they can do it in those courses without doing much efforts. These are the key points which influence the childrens to prefer other courses rather than science.

Definitely, decline in specific field leads to poor development in country. Medical courses are those which promote doctors, nutritionist and pharmacist. If there are not enough doctors or nutritionist people with lead to severe chronic diseases. And there will be more patients than doctors. Therefore, with the passage of time we lose our grip on medical field and we have no solution of many diseases. Furthermore, there will be the lack of preceptionist and it will directly effect to the average life span of people.

In conclusion, there are few student who tends to medical subject due to their ease or other reasons. We all should try to overcome from such causes and promote science subjects. Otherwise , everyone will suffer from unpredictable conditions.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, identifying causes such as the perceived difficulty of science subjects and parental pressure, and effects such as a shortage of medical professionals leading to chronic diseases. However, the development of ideas is limited and at times repetitive, which aligns with Band 5. The focus leans heavily towards medical science rather than science as a whole, narrowing the scope. While a position is presented, the argumentation remains underdeveloped and relies on generalisations without sufficient supporting examples. To reach a higher band, the writer needs to expand on the ideas with more specific details and maintain a balanced view across all scientific disciplines, ensuring each body paragraph offers deeper analysis and fully fleshed-out arguments rather than broad assertions.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response exhibits some organisation with distinct paragraphs representing the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion, but overall progression is hindered by awkward transitions and weak cohesive ties. Phrases like 'This will leads to crucial downfall' and 'Definitely, decline in specific field' display inaccurate cohesive device usage and mechanical transitions. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as ambiguous pronoun usage like 'people with lead to severe chronic diseases'. Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal logical flow between sentences often stumbles, causing jerkiness in reading. To improve, the writer should use a wider variety of accurate cohesive markers and ensure that each sentence flows naturally into the next, establishing a clearer logical chain of reasoning throughout the essay.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The lexical range is limited and minimally adequate for the task, with noticeable errors that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'chronic diseases', 'nutritionist', and 'pharmacist', but these are offset by frequent word choice and collocation errors, such as 'medical relevance courses', 'minimal struggle can achieve goods', and 'lack of preceptionist' (presumably meaning receptionist or practitioner). There are also spelling and word form errors, including 'preceptionist' and 'overlooked' where the base form should be used after a modal. To achieve a higher score, the student needs to incorporate a more precise and varied vocabulary, ensuring that words are used in correct collocations and checking carefully for word forms and spelling accuracy.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but control over grammar is weak, with frequent errors that can impede comprehension. There are recurring structural and agreement errors throughout the text, such as 'There are few students who select' (which should be 'fewer' or 'not enough'), 'This will leads to' (subject-verb agreement error), 'concepts that is not easy' (plural/singular mismatch), and 'overcome from such causes' (unnecessary preposition). Punctuation and capitalization errors also appear, such as missing spaces after periods and commas. To improve, the writer must focus on basic grammatical accuracy, particularly subject-verb agreement, verb tense consistency, and correct preposition usage, while striving to construct complex sentences with greater precision and fewer errors.
