Student answer (Band 5.5)

In many countries, students are studying sceince subjects but their quantity is less than other subjects. In this essay i will explain it with its causes and effects on society.

Initially, the main cause of this is because students prefer to select art subjects like history, business, laws, english etc because now a days these subjects are more beneficial for their future. These subjects offers a good chance of jobs after completing thier degree. So every student thinks about his future that the study he is doing will be worth it for his future or not. In the previous time mostly students like to select thier degree in the science subjects which was very profitable for them in that time but now a days it not worthy as compared to previous time . Now mostly students try to learn the subjects like international languages, laws subject or AI because these subjects will make their future bright.

Meanwhile, it has also negative effects on society as well. Our country also needs to grow it with the science technology which is gained by studying science. Furthermore, the talented teachers who got their sceince degrees from abroad they will lose their jobs and interests it the quantity of the science subjects students will fall down and it will also effects the country's reputation.

In my opinion, the government should try to give better opportunities to the students who are studying science subjects so that they will built thier future successfully and the ratio between science subjects and the other subjects will became equal.

To conclude this, the students are giving priority to the other subjects in sake of their future, they are studying these subjects for their career building instead of studying science.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the task by identifying causes (such as career prospects, preference for business and arts subjects) and societal effects (such as a lack of technological advancement and risks for specialized teachers). A clear position is maintained throughout the essay. However, the ideas are somewhat repetitive and lack deep elaboration or specific examples from outside the writer's personal scope. For instance, the discussion on causes reiterates job prospects multiple times without introducing diverse underlying societal or educational factors. Nevertheless, the prompt is fully answered, earning a solid Band 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a discernible introduction, body paragraphs addressing causes and effects respectively, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is utilized, although the body paragraphs are quite dense and could be broken down more effectively. Cohesive devices are attempted, but terms like 'Initially,' 'Meanwhile,' and 'To conclude this' are sometimes used mechanically or inaccurately in context. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as pronoun use in 'in the previous time mostly students like to select thier degree'. Progression is present, but overall structural control places this securely in the Band 5.5 to 6.0 range, warranting a Band 5.5.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully communicating everyday concepts relating to careers and education. However, there are frequent word choice inaccuracies and spelling errors (e.g., 'sceince', 'thier', 'laws subject', 'in sake of'). Less common vocabulary is attempted with mixed success, leading to awkward phrasings like 'profitable for them in that time' or 'give better opportunities'. While meaning is generally clear, the density of lexical errors and limited sophistication restrict the score to Band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing relative clauses and conditional structures (e.g., 'so that they will built thier future successfully'). However, grammatical control is weak, with frequent errors in tense consistency ('In the previous time mostly students like'), subject-verb agreement ('these subjects offers', 'it not worthy'), and spelling. Punctuation is also problematic in places, with missing commas after introductory phrases and spacing errors. Because these errors are frequent and occasionally cause minor strain for the reader, a Band 5.0 is appropriate.
