It is an ongoing debate amongst people of certain countres that students now a days do not consider science related programs at university level. there are several reasons for this popular trend and it has some bad consequences on the community as well as for the development of one's nation. Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, exploring the causes behind fewer students choosing science (high tuition costs and perceived academic difficulty) and the societal effects (shortage of doctors and engineers, potential national underdevelopment). The position is clear throughout the essay, and ideas are extended, such as explaining how a lack of medical professionals impacts emergency situations. However, some arguments tend to over-generalise, and the phrase 'This essay will discuss both views' at the end of the introduction is inaccurate since the prompt asks for causes and effects, not two differing opinions. Despite this minor misstatement in the introduction, the content successfully addresses the core prompt, fulfilling the requirements for Band 6.5, rounded to Band 6.0 due to limited development in places.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay is divided into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, two body paragraphs addressing causes and effects respectively, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'Beside this', though some transitions feel a bit mechanical or unnatural. Paragraphing is generally appropriate, and there is a clear overall progression. However, referencing and cohesion are sometimes faulty, as seen in phrases like 'Beside this, there are numerous drawbacks of this which can really be harmfull'. Furthermore, the transitional flow between sentences occasionally feels abrupt. The organizational structure is coherent overall, earning a Band 6.0.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'contemporary era', 'expenditures', and 'professionals'. However, there are numerous spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, including 'countres' instead of countries, 'schlor mind' instead of scholarly mind, 'pasy' instead of pay, 'lossing' instead of losing, 'harmfull' instead of harmful, 'distruction' instead of destruction, 'expensis' instead of expenses, and 'limmiting' instead of limiting. While these errors are frequent, they rarely impede communication completely because the intended meaning can still be understood. This performance aligns with the Band 5.5 descriptor.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over structure. However, grammatical accuracy is weak, with frequent errors in punctuation, capitalization, subject-verb agreement, and prepositions. Examples include 'students now a days do not consider', 'an engineering field requires to deposit high fee then all the other departments', 'complexity is another case for not paying attention', and 'if he do not find any doctor'. Furthermore, sentence boundaries and capitalization at the beginning of sentences are frequently neglected. Because errors occur consistently and can cause occasional difficulty for the reader, this warrants a Band 5.0.
