Student answer (Band 5.5)
IN THE MODERN TIME, MANY STUDENTS ARE NOT CHOOSING SCIENCE MAJOR FOR STUDY AT UNIVERSITY IN MANY NATIONS. THERE ARE MANY CAUSES AND EFFECTS SO, I WILL BE DISSCUS ALL EFFECT AND CAUSES IN THE UPCOMING PARAGRAPHS.
THERE ARE ONE MAJOR CAUSE OF THIS SITUATION IS THAT SCIENCE MAJOR CAN BE DIFFICULT BUT IS DEMANDING AND MANY STUDENT DON'T TAKE SCIENCE MAJOR IN 11TH STANDARD DUE TO, ITS VERY DIFFICULT AND BASED ON PRACTICAL RATHER THEN MORE THEORY WORK. MOREOVER, ANOTHER REASON IS THAT STUDENT MAY PREFER OTHER FIELD BECAUSE THEY OFFER ATTRACTIVE CAREER OPPORTUNITIES. FOR INSTANCE, MANY YOUNGSTER CHOOSE BUSINESS, TECHNOLOGY OR MANAGEMENT BECAUSE THEY BELIEVE THESE FIELDS CAN PROVIDE HIGHER SALARIES AND QUICKER EMPLOYMENT.
ONE OF THE MOST NOTICEABLE EFFECT IS THAT SHORTAGE OF QUALIFIED SCIENTIST AND RESEARCHERS BECAUSE YOUNGSTER NOT TAKE SCIENCE MAJOR AT UNIVERSITY THEN DO NOT STUDY SCIENCE SUBJECT SO NOT TAKE GOOD KNOWLEDGE OF ENVIRONMENT AND OTHER PHYSICS MATTER AND BIOLOGY SO HOW PEOPLE DO RESEARCH. FOR INSTANCE, A SHORTAGE OF MEDICAL RESEARCHER COULD SLOW DOWN THE DEVELOPMENT OF NEW TREATMENT FOR SERIOUS DISEASES. FURTHERMORE, SOCIETY MAY BECOME MORE DEPENDENT ON FOREIGN EXPERT IF THERE ARE NOT ENOUGH LOCAL SCIENCE GRADUATES, AUTHORITIES AND COMPANIES MAY NEED TO RECRUIT SKILLED PROFESSIONALY FROM OTHER NATIONS FOR EXAMPLE, A COUNTRY WITH A SHORTAGE OF RESEARCHER MAY NEED TO HIRE FOREIGN SCIENTIST SO ITS VERY EXPENSIVE
IN CONCLUSION, I EXPLAINED ALL CAUSES AND EFFECTS ON SOCIETY IN THE PREVIOUS PARAGRAPHS.I THINK ITS OVERALL NOT GOOD FOR NATION DUE TO ITS VERY EXPENSIVE HIRE THE FOREIGN SCIENTIST FROM ABROAD.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The candidate addresses all parts of the task by identifying causes, such as the perceived difficulty of science and attractive career opportunities elsewhere, and effects, such as a shortage of qualified researchers and dependence on foreign experts. A position is presented, and main ideas are supported with relevant examples, such as the mention of medical research and foreign recruitment. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive, particularly in the conclusion, and some points are slightly under-developed. Nevertheless, the requirements of the prompt are adequately met, corresponding to Band 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The text is divided into paragraphs, although the use of ALL CAPS throughout the response negatively impacts the overall presentation and visual coherence. Logical organization is visible as the essay moves from introduction to causes, effects, and conclusion. However, cohesive devices are sometimes mechanical or faulty, such as the transition 'THERE ARE ONE MAJOR CAUSE' and the repetitive framing in the conclusion. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow is disrupted by punctuation errors and run-on sentence structures, placing this performance at Band 5.5.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, with some attempts to use less common terms such as 'employment', 'opportunities', and 'independent'. However, there are notable limitations and word-choice errors, such as 'take science major' instead of 'major in science' and 'professionaly' instead of 'professionals'. The range is somewhat restricted, and repetition of basic words like 'science', 'major', and 'causes' is frequent. These errors and limitations mean the lexical resource best fits the Band 5.0 descriptors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response exhibits a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but grammatical accuracy is quite low. There are frequent errors in subject-verb agreement ('THERE ARE ONE MAJOR CAUSE'), tense consistency ('I EXPLAINED' instead of 'I have explained'), and missing articles ('a shortage of qualified scientist'). Punctuation is also problematic, with run-on sentences and a lack of proper periods separating independent clauses. Although meaning is generally conveyed despite the errors, the frequency of basic grammatical mistakes restricts the score to Band 5.0.
