Student answer (Band 5.5)

In today's rapidly evolving world, the significance in the field of 'science' has been rising across the world, uplifting the standards of living, by emerging technological breakthroughs. Meanwhile a substantial number of individuals assert that a sufficient amount of learners are not being enrolled at university in science programs. This is because the emergence of social media, high tution fees and lack of intrest, although this development can generate deleterious impacts on societal and economic progress.

To begin with the causes, one of the underlying factors is social media influence. This is because, in recent years it has been observed that a growing proportion of adolescents devote their time to digital and platforms, where they are motivated by eminent personalities and atheletes to become a sportperson or celebrity, because they desire to replicate their ideas to accumulate a vast amount of monetary benefits In addition, another major reason is, scientific programmes necessitate a significant amount of financial funds, which students and families cannot afford, particularly impoverished and disadvantaged communities. However, this skills are provided in science programmes,.Therefore, if learners do not constitue enough skills such as technological skills, conflict-resolution skills, then they can not acquire stable and well-paid employment opportunities. So, this advancemnet can affect the enterprise as well as employees.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by identifying causes, such as social media and financial costs, and discussing effects on society, including technological adaptation and employment. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others. For instance, the cause regarding the prominence of historical disciplines is somewhat confusingly argued and relies on a flawed premise, while the discussion on economic impacts in the fourth paragraph contains under-developed explanations regarding transferable skills. The position is generally clear throughout, presenting relevant ideas, but the depth of support varies across the body paragraphs, preventing it from reaching a higher level.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt to structure the response into introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate causes and effects. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical. For example, transitional phrases like 'To begin with the causes' and 'Concequently' are used rigidly, and referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the pronoun 'this skills' in the fourth paragraph. The progression of ideas within paragraphs stumbles slightly due to abrupt shifts between examples and main points, meaning the flow does not always guide the reader smoothly from one point to the next.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The writer demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'deleterious impacts', 'monetary benefits', and 'prerequisites'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors throughout the text, including 'tution', 'intrest', 'atheletes', 'sportperson', 'Concequently', 'reaason', 'theoritecal', 'hostorical', 'Acooring', 'ministery', 'develpment', 'adverly', 'past-pased', 'nevigate', and 'emplyees'. While these errors do not seriously impede communication as the intended meaning remains mostly clear, they occur frequently enough to restrict the score, showing limitations in precision and control over spelling.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The text contains a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating an attempt at varied structures such as relative clauses and conditional-style arguments. However, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that catch the reader's attention and cause some difficulty, though they rarely obscure the overall meaning. Issues include article misuse ('the significance in the field', 'in science programmes'), pluralisation and agreement errors ('this skills', 'science programme do not constitute'), prepositional mistakes, and run-on structures. The sentence 'This is because the emergence of social media, high tution fees and lack of intrest, although this development can generate deleterious impacts...' lacks a main verb clause to resolve the 'although' dependent structure properly.
