Student answer (Band 6.0)
In recent years, an increasing number of students tend to avoid enroll in scienctific subjects at universities. This trend could result in serious issues such as reduce technological progress, reduce number of research and experties which may cause to present certain challenges within the community.
In many cases, people are more interested in subjects that allow them to be creative and earn higher salaries. Young people, in particularly are more interested in businesses and marketing because these careers help them to be self-employees and provide them with well-paid jobs and long term financial security. For example, someone who work in digital marketing can earn a suitable amount of money during the year compared with a researcher or a science professional.
However, This trend is usually come with some drawbacks. First, it can cause shortage in experties that are needed to constantly develop new technology and resources to tackel future challenges including studying new viruses and forming new vaccines. Another issue is that societies depend heavily on highly skilled workforce to drive industrial and technological development. Therefore, with limited number of experties, society growth will remain relatively unchange over the next years, which significantly jeopredaize finding any solutions for the pressing issues that we face today.
Overall, governemnts should take some measures to encourage students to choice science subjects. For example, they should raise public awarness of the importance of these subjects by public awarness campaigns and give students opportunities to take workplacement to understand better the real-work environment in science field.
In conclusion, is it true that younger people are more attracted to fields that allow them to earn higher salaries and give them more freedom and independece, but they should be more aware about scienctific fields and there role in the society. The kind of trend can cause negative impact in society as a whole.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the causes behind students avoiding science subjects and the resulting effects on society. The position is generally clear throughout the essay. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others, which is characteristic of this level. For instance, the causes are outlined through general points about salaries and self-employment, and the effects are linked to technological progress and healthcare challenges. While these ideas are relevant and supported with explanations like digital marketing versus research, the depth of development varies. To reach the next level, the ideas would need to be more fully extended with deeper analysis and more precise examples rather than relying on slightly repetitive generalisations.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear logical progression from the introduction through the body paragraphs and into the conclusion. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately, with each paragraph focusing on a distinct aspect of the prompt, such as causes or effects. Cohesive devices are employed to signal transitions, such as 'However' and 'Another issue', though referencing and transitions can occasionally feel a bit mechanical or repetitive. For example, sentences in the body paragraphs rely on predictable connectors. To achieve a higher band, the use of cohesive devices would need to be smoother and more unobtrusive, demonstrating a more flexible and sophisticated management of paragraph flow and internal referencing.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The writer demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'financial security', 'industrial and technological development', and 'pressing issues'. However, there are noticeable limitations and inaccuracies in word choice, collocation, and spelling that reflect this band. Examples of errors include 'avoid enroll', 'scienctific', 'experties', 'self-employees', 'tackel', 'unchange', 'jeopredaize', 'awarness', 'workplacement', and 'there role'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to restrict the score. To move up, the writer needs to expand their lexical repertoire and eliminate spelling mistakes and word-formation errors through careful proofreading and practice.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The essay employs a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating attempts at subordination and relative clauses, such as 'someone who work in digital marketing can earn a suitable amount of money'. There are, however, some errors in grammar and punctuation, including subject-verb agreement issues like 'someone who work', missing articles, and preposition errors within grammatical patterns. Despite these errors, they rarely impede communication, allowing the reader to follow the argument without severe difficulty. To progress further, the writer should aim for a higher proportion of error-free sentences when attempting complex grammatical structures, while polishing control over verb forms, articles, and agreement across diverse sentence patterns.
