Student answer (Band 5.0)

When we dicuss about large community of students in different countaries are not choosing science main reason that we over look is stress that science causes in studying it.While the effect that occurs is mental burden on learner .

Science subjects are preffered to heavy learning capabillities and beacuse of the difficulty of this subject students find it more tough and and in result they prefer easy subjects such as Arts .

Discussion about selecting Medical subjects in low numbers is about the challenging nature and the books used in their course . We all know about how hard scientific language and its terms used for different species and drugs that are explained in detail. When some pupil favor in pre-reading of books of specific subject.

If they are able to understand it they will adapt that subject instead of going for some other subject.

Outcome of this is that students when they feel too much burden on them commit suicide and cause negative results on society .

when others look at that student they will do the same and it will impact the society which will mentally disturb most of the students and their parents.

Also when parents pressurize their children in choosing the field with which they are not able to continue their carrier and only result in disturbing consequences . So i also give example from my own Medical class after the one week of taking Medical classes half of our class shifts their subjects to arts and one of the student also commited suicide which is very disturbing for many students and teachers too.

So results are that we should only go in the field which will be suitable and make us stay relaxed throught .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by identifying the causes of fewer students choosing science at university, specifically focusing on stress and difficulty, and discusses the societal effects such as mental burdens. However, the ideas remain limited and under-developed. For instance, the discussion on medical subjects and books is somewhat repetitive and lacks extension. The position is visible, but the arguments are not fully elaborated with strong supporting evidence or broader perspectives, placing the response at a partial level of task completion. To improve, the writer needs to explore the causes and effects in greater depth, ensuring that each paragraph contributes distinct, well-rounded points rather than overlapping general statements.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The organization of the essay struggles with overall progression and logical flow. While there is a basic attempt to divide ideas into paragraphs, information and ideas are not arranged coherently. Sentences often feel disjointed, and the relationships between ideas are difficult to follow due to missing or inadequate cohesive devices. For example, transitions between the causes of academic stress and the extreme consequences mentioned later in the text are abrupt and lack smooth logical links. Furthermore, referencing is frequently unclear, making it hard to track pronouns and subjects. To reach a higher standard, the writer must ensure clear logical sequencing throughout, utilizing paragraphing effectively and employing a wider, more accurate range of cohesive markers to guide the reader seamlessly through the arguments.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for addressing the topic, featuring noticeable errors that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. There are frequent issues with word choice, collocation, and word formation, such as writing 'preffered' instead of preferred, 'capabillities' instead of capabilities, and 'carrier' instead of career. The range of vocabulary is basic and repetitive, relying on simple terms and struggling when attempting less common or academic terminology. To achieve a stronger lexical score, the student should focus on expanding their working vocabulary, learning correct word forms and spellings, and incorporating more precise, topic-specific collocations related to education and academic stress.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The grammatical range is limited, relying mostly on simple sentence structures, while attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty. There are persistent errors in grammar, punctuation, and articles that can cause difficulty for the reader. Noticeable issues include subject-verb agreement problems, missing prepositions inside grammatical patterns, and incorrect verb forms, such as 'When we dicuss about' and 'one of the student also commited'. Punctuation is also handled poorly with erratic spacing around commas and periods. To progress, the writer needs to practise constructing varied complex sentence forms accurately, paying close attention to basic grammatical rules, verb tenses, and punctuation discipline.
