Student answer (Band 5.0)

Now a days, most of the students are not getting enrolled science subjects to study at university and it has been happening in many countries.

Although, there are many factors that contribute in this issue. One of the main cause is the Artificial Intelligence system. As we know in many countries the Artificial Intelligence is getting more dominant as comapre to other fields specially the science. The second most common factor or cause is the avalability of opportuniites. Because of the more dominancy of Artificial Intelligence, there are far more opportunities for those pupils who are studying Artificial Intelligence and other related fields rather than those who study science. Third main cause of this issue is related to finance. Many countries have increased their budget for Intelligence system that has impacts on the budget of other courses. In order of this, graduates who belong to intelligence and related fields are being paid higher as compared to the other field employes.

Unfortunately, this issue has significant effects on our society. As, there will be less number of pupils study science so there will be fewer doctors and other medical employes. Because of this low competetion the standards and merit of other science subjects has also getting declined significantally.

In my perspective, the main reasons of this cause are the available opportunities for other fields especially for the Artificial Intelligence. It also has been getting popular in my country as well. As many of the pupils are getting enrolled in other fields than science because of better future and high pay.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing causes and effects of students avoiding science at university, but the ideas remain limited and under-developed. For example, the student attributes the decline in science enrollment to Artificial Intelligence, treating AI as completely separate from science rather than a branch of it, which leads to confusion in the main argument. The effects mentioned, such as fewer doctors and lower academic standards due to low competition, are stated simply without adequate extension or supporting examples. Furthermore, the position is not always clearly maintained, as the writing tends to drift into personal observations rather than developing a coherent analytical discussion of societal impacts.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some basic organisation in the essay, attempting an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion, but it lacks a clear overall progression. The paragraphing is poorly managed, particularly because the second body paragraph is extremely dense and crams multiple causes and effects together. Cohesive devices are repetitive and sometimes inaccurate, such as using transitional phrases like 'In order of this' and 'As, there will be', which create awkward pauses rather than smooth logical links. Additionally, referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult to follow how ideas connect from one sentence to the next throughout the response.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary range is limited and minimally adequate for the task. The student attempts some less common terms like 'dominancy' and 'significantally', but these suffer from word form and spelling errors. There are noticeable errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'getting enrolled science subjects', 'avalability of opportuniites', and 'medical employes' instead of 'employees'. While these lexical inadequacies do not completely prevent understanding, they cause some difficulty for the reader and reflect a restricted control of appropriate academic vocabulary for discussing educational and professional trends.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer demonstrates a very limited range of sentence structures, relying mostly on simple or faulty complex constructions. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with prepositions, verb forms, and articles, such as 'Now a days', 'contribute in this issue', and 'standards ... has also getting declined'. Attempts at complex sentence forms are often marred by structural instability, such as 'As we know in many countries the Artificial Intelligence is getting more dominant as comapre to other fields specially the science.' These frequent errors cause considerable difficulty for the reader and show weak overall control of grammatical accuracy.
