Student answer (Band 4.5)

Nowa days, people are upgrade with time and also developed their thoughts. So, in many countries not enough students are choosing to study science at university. It has many reasons like, difficult subjects, lack of practical sessions and high payable fees. I will describe in further passages and conclude with my relevant example from my own knowledge and experience.

In today's life, everything became more difficult. In many countries there are lack of experience in science, because of that students changed their decision to study in universities. Another reason is fees. For example, A student came for small village to study science in a best university but he does not have too much money to pay fees. High fees affects students life this is the best example from my own experience.

Another reason is practical sessions. Many countries developed many things in their universities but some universities still don't have certain things to teach students how to use that like copy of injections, bodies, brains and other things. These are most important thing to teach students and even lot of univerisities still don't have projector. So I think it affects more in student life who wants to study in science at university.

In Conclusion, I would like to say that, government have to develop unviersities with technology. In today's life it is most important to learn from projector or practical sessions, laboratory and exprimental things. There are many students we have in our country but they can't do it because of lack of thing, experience, technology.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The response addresses the task only minimally, as it falls short of the required word count. The length requirement was not met, as the essay contains 240 words, which is 10 words short of the 250-word minimum (excluding 13 words copied directly from the prompt). Furthermore, the discussion of both causes and effects is quite basic and lacks sufficient extension. While the student attempts to identify causes such as difficult subjects, high fees, and a lack of practical sessions, these ideas are underdeveloped and rely heavily on sweeping generalisations and vague examples, such as mentioning 'copy of injections, bodies, brains and other things'. The overall response gives a minimal overview of the topic without providing a clear, sustained position or fully fleshed-out arguments.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay displays some organisation with basic paragraphing, but there is no clear overall progression of ideas throughout the text. The writer attempts to structure the response into an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion, but the logical links between sentences and paragraphs are often mechanical or inadequate. For instance, transitional phrases like 'Another reason is' and 'In today's life' are overused and repetitive, making the flow somewhat disjointed. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, such as the pronoun use in 'it affects more in student life who wants to study in science at university', which hinders the overall cohesion and clarity of the argument.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, employing a limited range that is only minimally adequate for the task. Throughout the response, there are noticeable lexical errors in word choice, word form, and spelling that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader and strain comprehension. Examples include 'Nowa days', 'upgrade with time', 'payable fees', 'unviersities', 'exprimental', and 'lack of thing'. The student attempts to use some less common words, but frequent inaccuracies in collocation and form—such as 'high payable fees' instead of 'tuition fees' or 'expensive tuition'—reflect a restricted vocabulary range typical of this level.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response features a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying predominantly on simple sentences with frequent errors in complex formations. There are persistent mistakes in verb forms, tenses, subject-verb agreement, articles, and prepositions within grammatical patterns. Examples of these frequent errors include 'everything became more difficult', 'there are lack of experience', 'A student came for small village', and 'government have to develop unviersities'. These numerous grammatical inaccuracies occur throughout the text and frequently cause difficulty and confusion for the reader, restricting the structural variety and accuracy of the writing.
