In different countries there are very less number of students who do not select science subjects at university because they think science will be difficult for them and they will loose their grades by selecting it. As a result, society is loosing fresh minds and ideas. I will discuss the causes and the effects of it on society in this essay.

To begin with, graduates have a kind of fear in their minds that if they will choose sceince fields they might be reduce their grades. Therefore, due to this fear they goes with easy subjects. Furthermore, youngsters at university level prefer to study the courses of their interest such as business and IT and also they believe these fields have more demand in this contemporary era. Beyond this one other major reason of not going in science field is the merit and high feeses, due to which students might reduce their chances and interest to select it.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt regarding the causes of low enrollment in university science courses and the effects on society, but the development of these ideas is limited and under-developed. For example, the causes are briefly attributed to fear of lower grades, preference for business and IT, and high fees, while the effects mention a lack of doctors and inventors. However, the reasoning remains somewhat repetitive, and the position is not always clearly sustained throughout the essay. To reach a higher band, the writer needs to extend and support all main points with more detailed explanations and relevant examples rather than simply listing surface-level ideas.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a recognisable introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion, satisfying basic organizational requirements. However, the progression of ideas is sometimes hindered by mechanical or repetitive use of cohesive devices, such as 'To begin with', 'Furthermore', and 'As a consequence'. Paragraphing is used, but referencing within the text is not always clear, leading to a somewhat choppy flow between sentences. To improve in this area, the writer should employ a wider and more flexible range of cohesive ties to connect ideas smoothly and ensure a clearer overall progression from one point to the next.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and just minimally adequate for the task. There are noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and word form that can cause some difficulty for the reader, such as 'very less number', 'sceince', 'feeses', and 'loosing' instead of 'losing'. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary like 'contemporary era' and 'modern epoch', but these attempts are undermined by persistent lexical inaccuracies and unnatural collocations. To achieve a higher score, the writer needs to expand their lexical range, demonstrate better control over spelling and word forms, and use vocabulary with greater precision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The essay demonstrates a limited range of sentence structures, with frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that can cause difficulty for the reader. While there are some attempts at complex sentences, they are often faulty, as seen in structures like 'if they will choose sceince fields they might be reduce their grades' and 'students might reduce their chances and interest to select it'. There are also frequent issues with verb forms, subject-verb agreement, and prepositions inside grammatical patterns. To move up to the next band, the writer needs to produce a greater variety of complex sentence forms with a significantly higher proportion of error-free sentences.
