Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the task only partially, as it touches upon both causes and effects, but the ideas remain limited and under-developed. For example, while the writer mentions stress and financial costs as causes, these points lack specific elaboration or supporting examples. Furthermore, the length requirement is not met, as the text contains only 194 words, falling significantly short of the 250-word minimum. To reach a higher level, the writer needs to present fully extended ideas with well-supported examples for both prompts while meeting the required word count.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is some organisation evident with basic transition phrases like 'To begin with', 'first of all', and 'secondly', but the essay lacks a clear overall progression. The paragraphing is inadequate, as the entire response is clumped into two massive paragraphs that cover multiple distinct ideas without proper logical separation. Cohesive devices are repetitive and sometimes inaccurate, such as 'secondly we will talk about its effect our society ofcourse it will'. To improve, the writer should employ paragraphing effectively, separating introduction, causes, effects, and conclusion, and use a wider variety of cohesive ties logically.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task. The student relies on basic terms and encounters noticeable errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'concerate' for concentrate, 'leaner' for learner, 'expection' for expectation, and 'medicial' for medical. These errors and limited word choices cause some difficulty for the reader and reflect a restricted lexical range. To achieve a higher band, the student must expand their vocabulary range, demonstrate more precision in word choice, and eliminate basic spelling and word-form errors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response displays a very limited range of structures, consisting mostly of simple or poorly controlled sentences. Attempts at complex or compound sentences are often faulty, featuring frequent errors in grammar, articles, prepositions, and punctuation. Examples include 'To begin with study science at university is great task', 'every country try to improve', and 'student not interest in science because nowdays student get more stress'. Frequent errors cause difficulty for the reader. To improve, the writer needs to demonstrate a greater variety of grammatical structures with improved accuracy, paying closer attention to subject-verb agreement and article usage.
